League Bantam semi-finals.
The first game saw the Exeter
Eagles meet the Exeter Lincolns. 'l'he
first period was hard, fast end to end
action which resulted in a scurelcss
period.'
In the second period the Lincolns
jumped out to a one goal lead on a
shot from Tom ltolph. Tim Van Dam
added a second goal in the same
period to increase the Lincolns lead
to two goals.
Late in the second period the
Eagles came back with a goal from
I tenri DeBruyn.
The score remained 2-1 until late in
.Petites lose close one
In the first game of the round robin
- playoff. the Exeter Petites ran up
against a strong and very plentiful
. Seaforth team and lost 9-7. - -
-The Exeter team's scoring was led
by Jill :Sararas--with- three goals.
Cheyenne Westlake added another
two, while Lisa Forrest and Cara"
Gardner each had singles.
Assisting on the goals were Christie
Bedard, Katie Armstrong, Cara
Gardner, Cheyenne Westlake and
Lisa Forrest.
The Mc' lwain sisters accounted for
eight of the Seaforth goals, with Angie
—Jervis -adding the -single.
-The Exeter Petites wish Jenny=
Lynn Rowe a quick recovery after
breaking her leg.
The Petites played in Mitchell last
night. Tuesday.
the third periodwh-ena shot by Jamie
Bedard from Peter-Lerikos tied the
game up and sent it into overtime.
.At 2:01 of the overtime period
Shawn Ifeywood netted the winner to
send the Eagles into the finals,
Both teams played excellently.of-
fensively and defensively. but the
play of both teams was overshadow-
ed by the goal tending duel by Kevin
Wallace of the Lincolns and Justin
Charrette of the Eagles. Both goal
tenders kept their teams in the game
on more than one occasion with some
fabulous sprawling saves and incredi-
ble grabs,
Thesecond game had Strathroy II
and Parkhill play-off. The game
although close paled in comparison to
the inter town rivaTi•y that was.played
prior to it. The end of the game saw --
Parkhill come out victorious. putting
them into the finals against the Ex-
eter Eagles on March 28 at the South
lI'uron Rec ('entre.

Oddfellows curling a .success
A full house was on hand to par-
ticipate in the annual John Broadfoot
Curling Bonspiel sponsored by Exeter
100F' 67 at the Exeter Curling Club
February 28.
Curlers were present from Petrolia.
Corunna, Glanworth, Dutton, Clinton.
Brussels. Melbourne, Brucefield.
Tweens win
over Seaforth
The Exeter Tweens are one game
away from winning the Huron -Perth
Ringette Association championship
after edging Seaforth 5-4 in Seaforth.

The second game of the best -of -
three series will go at the South Huron
-Ree ('entre Thursday night at 8 p.m.
The Tweens reached the group
finals despite losing 8-5 to Goderich in
the last game of a round robin series.
Julia Merner's second goal. of the
game. on passes from Becky Morgan
and Jayne Rowe gave the Tweens
Sunday's close win over Seaforth.
Becky .Morgan also fired Iwo suc-
cessful shots and added one assist as
did Julia Merner. .
The other Exeter score was notch-
ed by Becci Farquhar. Jayne Rowe
gained four assists for. her night's
work. Also getting another assist was
'teed Farquhar..
In the loss -to Goderich, Becky
Morgan and Julia Merner were again
the goal leaders for Exeter with two
apiece. Notching a single score was
Giselle Charrette.
Scores from
dart league
Anna Romaniuk achieved a high
score of 134 for ladies and Mac Wall
was high for the men at 149 in F'ri-
day's regular play in the Exeter
Legion mixed dart league.

The Exeter Broncos were blanked
:1-0 by Belmont in a Shamrock atom
'A' game Saturday in Thamesford.
It was a sudden death contest and
Belmont now qualifies for Shamrock
playdowns.
STUDY DROP -OUTS
The Ministry of Education will
undertake a special study on school
dropouts. as one of several ministry
initiatives planned to help reduce the
drop-out rate. Education Minister
Sean Conway announced today.
The study will be headed by: George
Radwanski, former editor-in-chief of
the Toronto Star. who will act as a
special advisor to Conway.
-This is an important issue to the
government, said Premier David
Peterson. adding the objective of the
study will be to recommend ways of
ensuring that Ontario's education
system is relevant to the needs of
young people and to the realities of
the labour Illrlrket they are preparing
to enter.
- The study will look' at such things
as who is dropping out and why. plus
the predominant distinguishing
characteristics of today's dropouts. It
will also consider what changes might
be desirable in the structure of the
school program. and what new ap-
proaches -- involving the schools
themselves. along with business and
government -- can be initiated to
bridge the gap between education and
p oto the workplace--__
