and the offertory prayer was given by
Mrs. Wayne Rowe. A prayer was
given by Mrs. Bray with the audience
praying responsively.
Mrs. Stewart introduced Dave
Kemp principal of Hensall Public
School who spoke on the Eskimos. He
taught among the Eskimos in the
North West Territories for seven
years some time age.
He also showed pictures and con-
ducted a quiz on the articles he had
on -display-_which were real in-
teresting. Mrs. Kernick thanked Mr.
Kemp and presented him with a gift.
Mrs. Simpson gave a humorous
reading "My New Snowblower".
Twenty-five ladies and sixteen men
partook of a St. Patrick's dessert and
tea or coffee with Group C in charge.
Mrs. Barry Jeffery opened the
business part of the meeting with a
poem "True Friendship". The roll
call was answered by bringing a baby
picture of yourself. The minutes, card
of thanks treasurers report were
received.
We received an invitation to the
quilt show: The Westminster weekend
and the London Conference were
discussed. It was reported we are
entertaining in April and Mrs. Jeffery
closed the meeting with prayer which
brought an enjoyable evening to a
close.

and Country Inn on Friday. Wishing
them the best of luck in their new
venture.
Monthly meeting of the U.C.W. was
held March 5. Worship service was
conducted by Nancy Brand and Nola
Faist telling of God's gift to man, hav-
ing the choice to choose his way o[
life.
. Business was conducted by presi-
dent Mary Kenney. Minutes of last
meeting were read. Roll call was
answered by what other place you
would like to live.
Anyone who can quilt is asked to
help quilt for Summerfest in the room
behind the township office on March
25.
Linda Finkbeiner was nominated
as a representative from U.C.W. on
the Summerfest committee, also the
women are asked to bake for a bake
sale at Summerfest. Lunch was serv-
ed by Mary Drasey and Laurene
Wein. -
The sermon topic at Zion United
Church was taken from Matthew
4:1-11 with Ray Wilson reading the
scripture. Mev. Elder's -sermon was
"Free and Faithful".

8 p.m. in the Sunday School rooms.

Rev. Robert Matheson was in
charge of the First Sunday in Lent
Church service on Sunday morning.
We -read Psalm 51 responsively and
sang the children's hymn "The Wise
May Bring Their Learning" and Rev.
Matheson told the children's story en-
titled "Jesus: Always Our Friend".
The scripture lesson was read from
Genesis 2:7-9, 15-17, 3:1-7a, Romans
5:12-19, Matthew 4:1-11. The sermon
was entitled Temptations: what
temptations?
Lent is celebrated for 40 -days. The
length of the season is patterned after
