With him outside a bus at the back Jennifer Pickering and Stacey Rader and at the front Michelle Desjardine and Christine Schade. Ailsa Craig news by Doug NleNair another successful pancake supper The newly formed Ecumenical held at the Ailsa Craig United Church Youth Group in Ailsa Craig got off to even with stormy weather upon us a terrific start, Sunday, March 1 with over a hundred patrons stopped in for Rev. Jean Morris and Rev. Anne pancakes with maple syrup and some ----Beattie as leaders. Twenty -youth met —Dashwood - -sausages:. The -heavy— at 3:30 in the United Church for a pro- gram -geared for high school aged kids. Then off to Lucan bowling lanes for a game or two, (allowed by pizza and refreshment at the Presbyterian Church. By the sounds of all reports the first meeting was a great success, but with these two young enthusiastic leaders it couldn't be anything else. If you're high school age and want to belong to a youth group next meeting March 15. Wishing you all the success for a well needed group in the community. Anne Beat- . tie will be back for next week's ser- vices at Ailsa Craig 9 a.m., Brinsley 10:15 a.m. and Carlisle.11:30 a.m. March 7, Ailsa Craig Branch 422 Royal Canadian Legion hosted Zone A5 public speaking finals with 21 con- testants from as far as Glencoe. Newbury area put forth their best ef- forts to keep the overflowing crowds attention and even laughing -at times with their wit. All number one win- ners now go to Chatham Legion final on March 28, for their next advancement. In grades 11, 12 and 13, Annette Ross from North Middlesex District High School, Parkhill. March 4 at the Ailsa Craig Legion HalltheAilsa Craig Seniors held their euchre and following are the results: ladies high. Becky Ross, ladies low, Ruth Guest, ladies lone hand, Lor- raine Neil, mens high, Margaret Dores, mens low, Carmen Stewart, Mens lone hand, Janet Rose. Hazel Walker and Levi White required no marks on their tally card for one game. Next meeting they have a pot luck meal planned which will be held March 18 in the legion. Tuesday night, March 3, was Clandeboye Barbara and Clarence Carter and Mrs. Viola Carter spent the weekend with John and Patricia Brownlee and family. in Gravenhurst and attended a dinner party on Saturday evening in honour of John's 50th birthday. Sun- day they enjoyed the winter carnival in Gravenhurst. Irene and Gerald Lynn and Gwen and Ralph Lynn have returned from a holiday in Florida. Mrs. Mabel Watson and her sister Mrs. Elliott of Parkhill, accompanied Jean Hodgins to the Farm Show in London on Friday, to hel in the Mid- dlesex County Women's Institute Public Relations booth. Clarence Millson spent the weekdn with Florence and Gerald Millson but were anxious to get . back to Craigholme Nursing Home, were he has settled in very well. Legion. Grades 7 and 8, Sue Ann Elliott of Euphemia Central representing Newbury Legion, Mike Sanders, Valley View School representing 11- derton Legion and Julie Devree, East Williams representing Ailsa Craig Legion. Grades 9 and 10, Janyce McGregor of North Middlesex District High School representing Parkhill Legion. Grades 11, 12 and 13 Annette Ross, North Middlesex District High School representing Ailsa Craig Legion and Heather Miller of Glencoe District High School representing Melbourne Legion. Each entry received a silver dollar and a certificate for their efforts. Cor- alee received a plaque that will bear her name on it and next year in ex- change will receive a keeper trophy. Also Sue Ann Elliott and Janyce McGregor received trophies. Saturday night, Legion Ladies Aux- iliary Euchre winners were=- ladies high, Judy Lloyd, ladies low, Betty Morley; ladies lone hands, Fran Brown; mens high, Les Morley; mens low, Bob Thomson; mens lone hands, Doug Brown. Saturday, a team from the Exeter Curling Club skipped by Janet Heaman of Ailsa Craig placed second in the Seagram's O.V. Bonspiel in 11- derton. Other team members were Elaine McNair, Ailsa Craig, Bettie Gibbs, Parkhill and Aubrey Scott of Lucan. Congratulations girls on your first time effort! . - The G a Days -committee held another meeting March 4 in the Ailsa Craig Town Hall with this year's chairman, John Bender in charge. Topics of discussion included pur- chasing souvenirs, parade, firemen events, special entertainment in the park, poster contest, booth costs and fireworks. Lynne Burns is still looking for volunteers to run the scheduled flea market Sunday, July 19. Interested parties please call 293-3270. A schedule of events has been pro- posed and the weekend is coming together well. Next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 7 in the townhall at 7:30. Volunteers are most welcome. February 6 at the University of Guelph, Ruth Coursey, daughter of Joyce Coursey received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Ruth is continuing studies for a Masters Degree.
