TEMPLEMAN Stott° Kip Daynard was guest speaker at. the Public Relations meeting of the Staffa Womens Institute, held at the home of Roberta Templeman on February 25. Kip told about his ex- perience as a Provincial Page in Toronto and also about his trip to Ex- po last summer with the Stratford Boys' Choir. While there they gave two concerts at Expo and several other concerts on the Island. Ile had many interesting pictures and momentoes which he passed around. Kip was introduced by Rober- ta Templeman and thanked by Joyce Vivian. Roberta presided for the program opening with a reading "A Public Relations Garden" and the Mary Stewart Collect. Fifteen members answered the roll call by naming a place in Canada they would like to visit and why. Veile Mahon gave some very good hints on photography' telling how to choose a camera. how to load and unload a camera. proper lighting and focusing. Exeter girls elect officers by Jill Sararas "Tell one decision you made to- day," was the roll call for the first meeting of Exeter 1, "Surviving with Style" 4-11 project. After the introduc- tions of leaders and members the 4-11 pledge was repeated. It was decided to have the next meeting on March 11. 1987. Leader Mary De Boer went over the rules and general requirements of this project. Members did two activities "If I could I would ..." and "Build It". These activities were intended to get members thinking and actively tak- ing part in the meeting. They also helped to illustrate the point that even though all groups have the same resources, t ey end up with very dif- ferent creations and to help members see how decisions are made. by a group. After this some refreshments were enjoyed. Leader Nancy Hines gave an _in- troduction to lesson material. With seven members in attendance elections were held. The results were as follows: president - Paula Hohner: vice-president - Carrie Lovie: secretary - Shannon McBride: press reporter - Jill Sararas. Carrie Lovie will bring a snack and Paula Hohner will bring a drink to next meeting. Carrie Lovie adjourn- ed the meeting. Joyce Vivian gave some good gardening hints and introduced Lloyd Morrison a co-chairman of the up- coming International Plowing Match to be. hosted by Perth County in September 1988. He told about the site, how many acres were needed and the many committees involved in planning such a big event. Lloyd was wearing the bla4er etc. in the official colours and Joyce was wearing the winter jacket available. The president, Kay'Smaie presided for the business when correspondence Eagles oust Exeter crew In the North -Middlesex minor hockey semi-final playoffs, top place finishers of the regular pee wee house league, Exeter f, were put out of con- tention Saturday by fourth place Parkhill Eagles. - The Eagles edged Exeter 1 by a close 3-2 score at the Ilderton arena in this sudden death one -game playoff - match. Centreman Brad Page hit the Exeter net early in the first period, lif- ting the Eagles hopes. Then, two minutes later. Page was sent to the dressing room for a bad check, live minute penalty and a game suspen- sion. Exeter tied the game t-1 short- ly after. and scored again going ahead 2-1. Jason Desjardine for the Eagles, tied the game 2-2, on passes from (lob- by Mollard and Justin Turnbull. This tie-up was followed by Exeter's Ryan Lindenfield being sent to the dressing room with a game misconduct. Jamie Eagleson received two minor penalties, after which things settled down to hockey,. with Tess body con- tact. Desjardine fired another suc- cessful shot in the third period which proved to be the winning tally. Defensenian Piet Blaahoer 11 and goalie Jason Soldan kept Exeter from scoring. The Eagles advance into the finals on March 28 iiiExeter against Ilder- ton who defeated the second Parkhill pee wee team in a close 3-2.rnatch Saturday as well. -Eagles coach Ken Eagleson Smiled as he said that his team are guaranteed at least the silver, but will play for the gold ih Exeter. In -the Shamrock league play downs, the Parkhill novice Panthers defeated the Lucan novice team. who have won all the tournaments this season. The Panthers edged Lucan in a close 2-1 match Saturday in Lucan. The team plays in Parkhill this Fri- day' night at 6:15 p.m. against Watford. was dealt with. An update on a pro- gram co-ordinator was read. Agriculture in the classroom and the Butler project were discussed. A draw was made for a W.I. pin with Marion McCaughey being the lucky winner. Members signed a card for Hazel Ilarbur n who is a patient in Seaforth Community Hospital. Lunch .prepared by Esther Srnale and Doris Miller was served by Doris and Freda Kerslake . Personals Mr. and Mrs. Clifton- Miller are home after enjoying a holiday in the south and visiting with Dennis and Bonnie Wilson. Dallas. Texas. Carol Stewart and Jane Robinson, Kitchener visited on Sunday with Rob and I3ev Templeman and family. Bill and Mary Itowcliffe, Hensall visited recently with Doris Miller. The community hosted a bridal 'shower for Karen Finlayson, bride - elect in the Fancily Life Centre on Thursday evening. Karen was the recipient of many lovely gifts. Swine course at Londesboro - A - Swine Health Management Workshop will be offered March 12, at the Londesboro Hall in Londesboro. The workshop will be conducted by John Marlin and Cathy McNaughton of the Animal Industry Branch, On- tario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. and thetheme is using produc• - lion records to identify health problems. Discussions will cover establishing a record system; calculating impor- tant production data: setting goals and production targets: interpreting records: identifying problems; developing an action plan: and evaluation and implementation of the - plan. i'he course will start at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude -by :3:30 p.m. Lunch and handout materials will be provid- ed.
