He said the Watford collection was recent ly,handed over to the museum. by the Watford historical Society and includes many items manufactured in the village, numerous made by the former Thom's Implement Works. "'Thorn's was known across the coun- try for its patented silo blower. and we have one.'. - The collection also includes a rare commercial coffee grinder from the former Parol -Thompson 'General • Store. It is 101x restored l0 its original colors and condition. - "We may _even have it setup in the museum so we can grind coffee and sell it to visitors." Tremain said. The Watford display is being developed in co-operation with Wat- ford • council. which has given the museum $425, and the historical socie- ty. as %veil as donating the artifacts. is offering its historical expertise. He said the exhibit fits in with the museum committee's policy of developing an overall history of Lamblon County that now includes an extensive collection of iron stoves from the former Doherty Stove Works Ltd. at Sarnia. FLOORING museum - The Doherty stove collection, given to the museum by Tom Doherty of Sarnia, grandson of the firm's owner. represents 17. years of scouring the countryside in search of the rare stoves. Tremain said the museum has also had people searching for the stoves but "we haven't been very successful except for what Tom has found. This has to be the best collection of those stoves in the country." Doherty estimated the factory. which was located on 'Wellington Street in Sarnia, churned out about 2.000 stoves a year from 1884 to 1942. Tremain said a search for a catalogue from the manufacturer has failed, so "we don't know how many. types of stoves were made or what their prices were." • Play euchre at Ship ., _ka By MRS.
