Hawks could still finish first
About the only certainty following
this week's games in the northern
division of the Western Junior "D"
loop is that the Clinton Mustangs will
finish in last place.
The other four spots are still
mathematically up for grabs and will
be decided when the teams pick up
some postponed events this week.
With three straight wins to their
credit this week, the Exeter Hawks
are assured of a third place finish. A
win in one of two remaining games
with Clinton will give them second
place and there is still a chance they
could come out on top of the division.
That will happen if the Hawks win
both their games this week with Clin-
ton, while the Seaforth Centenaires
beat Brussels. The Hawks would also
need a better goals -for -and -against
record than the Bulls to finish on top.

Broncos alive
in playoffs
The Exeter Broncos kept their On-
tario
Minor Hockey Association atom
'CC' playoff hopes alive Sunday as
they downed Ridgetown by a score of
6-2.
In a Friday exhibition game, the
Broncos lost 4-2 to Clinton.
Sunday's game against Ridgetown
turned into a wild and wooly affair.
The Ridgetown manager and coach
were both thrown out of the game in
the third period. The visiting team
took 16 of the 17 penalties called. The
only call against the Broncos was a
body contact penalty on Joel
Campbell.
Campbell led the Broncos in a scor-
ing way with two successful shots and
both came on unassisted efforts. He
also picked up an assist. Sean
McCann kept pace with Campbell
with two scores. One came on a solo
dash and the other on a pass from
Paul Charrette.
The two goals for the Broncos came
as Derek Beckett converted a pass
from Marty DeBruyn and Jeff
Lingard registered on passes from
Steve Farquhar and Joel Campbell.
In the exhibition contest against
Clinton, Joel Campbell scored both

Wild game
The Hawks started their successful
week off with a 7-4 triumph over the
Centenaires in Seaforth, Friday, in a
game that degenerated into a wild set
of fisticuffs in the third period. Eight
players from both squads ended up
with fighting majors and game
misconducts. Banished for Exeter
were Scott Bogart, Dean Schram,
Derek Switzer, Steve McIntyre, Scott
Lovie, Jeff Pfaff, Mark Morrissey and
Jeff Reid.
The Hawks spotted their hosts a 4-2
lead in the first period and then rode
the shut -out netminding of Dave Rook
over the final two periods to rebound
with five unanswered markers.

Pratt, with two, and Scott Lovie,
Steve Gould, Jeff Pfaff, Dean Schram
and Scott Bogart.

ing department as he assisted on

Timmermans, Pratt, Lovie and Pfaff.
Rook best this time
When netminder Dave Rook made

ago, his stellar performance was
over -shadowed by a shutout -at the
other end of the rink as the Bulls won
2-0.
Sunday afternoon it was a different
story as Rook allowed only one goal.

the players who had been involved in
Friday's brawl in Seaforth but actual-

in the final stanza, with three of those
coming on powerplays.
Steve Gould paced the scoring
parade with four goals, while George
Pratt and Dean Schram added the
