Watch for tickets for the Fashion Show March 26. The dance was a huge success. Welcome Wagon visite the new Lutheran Minister also Dashwood Service Centre with (;ary l.ovie proprietor. Good discus- sion on the aims and the purposes of the Association were held. Guile -meets- - Zion Lutheran Ladies Guild met Wednesday afternoon February 1 President Mrs. Nancy Rader opened the meeting. Vicar Larry Stojkovic conducted theworship with the singing of "Beautiful Saviour" and the use of many worthwhile meanings. 'l'he Guild reported 17 visits and one phone call. The visiting committee is Mis. Gloria Beierling and Mrs. Alma Genttner ;-• the Altar committee is Mrs. Lorne Becker and Mrs. Howard Ualars.. Group 1 is in charge of the ,March -meeting. WI meets at Elimville By SHIRLEY COOPER The Elimville Women's Institute met Wednesday evening at the Elim- ville United Church. Members enter- tained husbands and friends. The evening started with a bountiful pot luck supper with Marion Skinner and Millie Fulton in charge. President Mrs. Philip Johns con- ducted a short business meeting. A thank you was also extended to all members . and husbands that had helped with the sportsmen's dinner. Mrs. Elson Lynn was chairperson for the program,' which opened by everyone joining in a sing song. The study of Prince Edward Island was started by watching a short movie -My Island Home" depicting life on the island and some of its history. _-A-paper with some moreinforma- tion was handed •out and. same of it discussed. The Ontario.Women's In- stitute members are twinned with the Women Institute of Prince Edward Island for two years. 1)elmar Skinner gave several recitals which were much enjoyed by all. Floyd Cooper then reviewed for all of us how to use the fire ex- tinguisher. There were several items and books on display picturing the province of Prince Edward Island. Personals Mr: and Mrs. Don Smith, Chad and Courtney, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cooper, and Joan and Doug were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bray and girls when they celebrated Kris- ty's third birthday. Clandeboye The February meeting of the Clandeboye Women's Institute was held at the thome of Hazel Williams. in Lucan with 12 members answering the roll call with a fun reading. Betty Coughlin acted as secretary in the absence of Hazel Cunningham. Elsie Lewis gave a report on the --District Directors -meeting Yheld in • Ailsa Craig, February 2. Members are reminded of W.I. par- ticipation at the Farm Show in Lon- don. The timealltoted to the W.I. will be only one hour, starting at 11:30 a.m. on March 6. The branches in the area are ask- ed to show more interest in the W.I. competitions at the Farm Show and Western -Fair or-these-compeetlitons are likely to be eliminated. Jean Hodgins will attend a meeting Monday at Thorndale concerning the W.I. Public Relations booth at the Farm Show. . Marion Hodgson was program con- vener and she and Elsie Lewis presented a humourous skit "The Train to Morrow," which had • everyone rocking in their chairs with laughter. More comic readings were given. "The Story of My Life" and "You Wouldn't Believe What Happened" was read by Hazel Williams and Marion read "The W.I. story in verse, "We're Going to Show You" and "65 and Counting". An interesting contest was won by Gladys Cunningham. Lunch was served and everyone agreed as they left for home, that it was a real interesting and fun meeting. Personals Winnie and Al Robicheau flew to, Nova Scotia on the weekend to attend the funeral of Al's mother. Sympathy is extended to them in the loss of their loved one. Many people from this area attend- ed the party for Andy Dixon, when his family honoured him on his 80th bir- thday, Sunday, at the Lucan Com- munity Centre. Best wishes are extended to Wilfred Cunningham on his 97th birthday February 27. Wilfred is a resident of Craigholme Nursing Home, enjoys reasonably good health and still loves a game of cards. Ilappy birthday from all your old Clandeboye neighbours. St. James Church.held their euchre party Tuesday evening. Prize winners were Earl Morgan and Marilyn Dix- on, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hodgins. Special Valentine prizes were won by Frank Hicks, Betty Guilfoyle and Eileen Pulham. Luke'Benson Maxwell Tuckey, son of Van and Laurie Tudkey was bap- tized in Zion Lutheran Church Sunday by Rev. Bylund. Sponsors were Joe and Nancy Becker. Van and Laurie Tuckey and Luke spent the weekend with Bill and Nan- cy Becker. - - Members of the Becker family and - friends attended brunch at Oakwood and returned to Bill and Nancy Becker's for cake and coffee. Study self eontrol Calvary United Church Women met -Tuesday evening with the Church in Society group in charge. The theme of the meeting was self-control. Mrs. - Jim Weigand led in prayer and refer- red to Proverbs 16-32 for her opening thought "It is better to 'win control over you self than over whole cities". The hymn "1 wouldbe truo"-was-sung- followed by a message of scripture given by Mrs. Harold Hendrick. Some interesting Meditative thoughts were shared with the group by Mrs. Hugh Boyle. It is important for us as individuals to realize that we must first have complete control over ourselves and our desires before we 'begin to have any control over the events and circumstances surroun- ding our lives. - Miss Idella Gabel favoured with several beautiful selections -on the piano. - Mrs. Don Geiser presided for the business. Reports were read and other correspondence acknowledged. Upcoming events were discussed. The 100th anniversary of World Day of Prayer will be observed on Friday. March 6. Calvary United church will be hosting this event. A special pro- gram is being arranged for the even- ing of March 18, when we entertain the residents of the Blue Water Rest Home. The 2.5th annual meeting of London Conference United Church Women to be held at Metropolitan :United Church London vn April 6 and 7. The- Sunshine committee for February are Mrs. Aldene Wolfe and Mrs. Lloyd Guenther.
