tivities for South Huron District High
School teams resumed this week.
In a tripleheader against Norwell of
–Palmerston, the South -Huron seniors --
won 81-55, the juniors were victorious
43-35 and the midgets dropped a 44-24
decision. i •

Pearen with 22 led the seniors attack

Dickins with 10.
Against Stratford Central, all three
South Huron teams were defeated..

senior loss, Jim Dickins led the
juniors with 20 points in losing 53-43
and Ian Verbeek's 11 points led the
midgets as they lost 61-34.
The seniors came through with an
exciting 83-79 victory over Stratford
North)vestern. Chris Pearen was tops
with 3f points followed by Scott Miller
25, Dave Gratton 12 and Mark Lomas

The midgets Jost 75-60 with tan
Verbeek getting 11 points and the
juniors were on the short end of a 75-60
count.
In a tournament in Parkhill the
South Huron juniors lost 45-14 to
Strathroy and 31-21 to Huron Park of
Woodstock
The regular season has now been
completed with the -seniors enjoying
an eight wins and two losses record.
The juniors were even at five and five
and the midgets won six times while
losing five.
Quarter -final playotts begin

Waxers remain
in playoff hunt
The Exeter Waxers remain in con-
tention in Ontario Minor Hockey
Association novice round robin
playoffs despite a record of one win.

dropped a 3-1 decision and Friday not
ched their first playoff win with 3-1

Barnes again on a power play and in
quick succession Crawford and
Goodhand each notched their second
of the night. Wayne t'rbshott nabbed
his third and fourth assists of the
night and Scott Denomy assisted on
-one.
In the third session. Mark Bannen
converted a pass from Brad Hodgins
and Paul Barnes hit on an unassisted
effort with Mount Brydges playing a
man short .
Both scores for the visitors by Dan
Gibson and Steve Wright came with
the Irish playing a man short.
1.ots of Penalties Again
Saturday's 6-6 tie between the Irish
and Belmont was again a penalty fill-
ed contest. The Irish were called for
21 infractions and the Bombers were
called to the -sin bin 22 times:
Mark Bannen led the Lucan scoring
attack with a pair of successful shots
with Bob Thirlwall getting two assists
and Brad Muir and Scott Denomy one
each.
Other Lucan goals came in single
fashion from the sticks of Ron
'Goodhand, Bob Thirlwall, Paul
Barnes and Jesse Crawford. Picking
up assists were'Joe Febrey. Wayne
Urbshott, Scott Denomy, Brad Muir.
Brad Hodgins, Paul Barnes and Todd
Hayter.
Broncos get
three points
The Exeter Broncos picked up
three of a possible four points in On-
tario Minor Hockey Association atom
'CC' round robin playoffs. but need a
win in their final game to keep their
hopes alive. .
Thursday in Forest the Broncos
were held to a 2-2 tie and the next
night in Ridgetown blanked the home
team 4-0.
The final round robin game for the
Broncos is at home Sunday against
Ridgetown and they must win and
hope that Lambeth doesn't get more
than,a tie in their two final games.
In ,the game in Forest, Sean
McCann converted a pass from Joel
Campbell with only three minutes re-
maining in the third period to get the
single point.
Earlier in the game, Gavin Snell hit
the Forest net on a pass from Derek
Beckett.
Goalie Darren Kints chalked up his
sixth shut -out of the season as the
Broncos won 4-0 in Ridgetown. One of
the best plays of the night came when
Kints stopped Ridgetown's best per-
former Brian Secord on a penalty
shot.
The penalty shot was called when
the referee claimed Kints threw his
stick while the Exeter bench claim-
ed he had the stick knocked out of his
hands=
Joel Campbell went on another of
his patented scoring streaks with
three, successful shots. The first came
on an unassisted effort. the second on
passes from Paul Charrette and Sean
McCann and on,the third converted a
pass from Scott Parsons.
The fourth and final marker for the
Broncos was fired by Paul Charrette
with the assist going to Ian Jean.

Hawks had of finishing in top spot in
the northern divisions of the Western

McGavin blocked 31 shots on his
home ice to enable his team to post a
2.0 win over the Hawks in their only
outing of the week. The loss also kept
the locals three points back of their
Mitchell namesakes for the second
place spot.
Earlier in the week, Mitchell had
clipped the Bulls.and are five points
out of first.
The Seaforth Centenaires also re-
entered the race for second place as'
they upset Mitchell and they are now
only one point back of Exeter. who
have one game in hand over the other
three clubs.
The Hawks -host the Centenaires al
the rec centre on Friday and then
travel back to Brussels for a Sunday
afternoon fray with the Bulls."
The locals also have two postponed
games to make up with the Clinton
Mustangs and one with the
Centenaires to complete the schedule.
While McGavin was stoning the
Hawks on Friday, the Exeter crew
CFPL sponsors
road races and
walks for fun
CFPL-TV London is sponsoring its
third 10 kilometer Road Race and ad-
ding a one -mile Fun Run/Walk in
London, February 22, 1987 starting at
10:00 a -m. during the Western Sports
Fair.
All entry fees and run/walk is a 10
kilometer double -loop course starting
and finishing on the Western Fair
Raceway. The 10 km runners will go
east to Dundas Street and along Dun-
das..to Highbury, south to King and
York Streets, west on Florence Street
and back to Dundas for the second
loop.
Trophies and medals -will be award-
ed in six age categories for males and
females with medals to the top five
male and female finishers in the one -
mile fun run/walk. Every finisher will
qualify for a free draw for a color TV -
from Patton's Place. London. Run-
ner's entry fees will also be good for
one free admission to the Western
Sports Fair on race day.
The TV -London 10 km Road Race
and fun run is in support of Parkwood
Hospital rehabilitation research and
each entrant is encouraged to collect
pledges. The runner with the most
pledges will receive a special award.
Parkwood Hospital is a 475 bed
facility dedicated to rehabilitation,
pallative care, continuing care and
geriatric medicine.
Entry forms and pledge sheets are
available for both the race and the fun
run at most London athletic stores,
Parkwood Hospital or from CFPL-
TV-London, 1 Commgnications Road,
London. Race day registration is from
8:00 - 9:00 a.m. inside the Western
• Fair Grandstand, Rectory Street,
London.

Top racers at
Western Fair
Top road racers of Canada will be
at the London Motorcycle show this
weekend, February 13, 14 and 15 at
the Progress Building, Western Fair
Grounds.
Paul MacMillan of Markham, who
made a sparkling debut last season on
his Honda -VFR 750 and. Bobby
Bergman of Lambeth, also a Pro-
Superbike ranking competitor will
both be attending Cycle 87.
MacMillan finished the 86 racing
season with the Castrol National
Championship in the Pro 750 Produc-
tion Class, and the Eastern Canada
challenge in both Pro -Open and 750
Production Classes, bojh of_ which
were sanctioned by R.A.C.E.
Bergman, a 2l year old local pro, is
commiting himself tolls career in
1987 and he will be competing in both
R.A.C.E. National and the AMA
Camel Pro Series.
MacMillan and Bergman will be at
the Nulty Gully Honda display
throughout the show to sign
autographs and answer questions.

sheet until the 7:15 mark of the second
period when Ron Chambers notched

Eagles unbeaten in

and Glen Quinn had good defensive
outings but the best defensive play
was by goalie .Justin Charrette who
had one of his strongest outings aft
year.
Parkhill scoring was by Piet
Blaaboer and Dennis Van
Massenhoven.
Saturday afternoon action 'had the
Exeter Eagles up against the Exeter
Lincolns.
Leading the Eagles to the 8-0 romp
over the Lincolns were strong offen-
sive and defensive outings.
Henri DeBruyn lead the Eagles
with two goals and two assists. Jamie
Bedard also had a pair of goals.
Brett Borden. Todd McCann- and
Pete Lerikos all had one goal and one
assist. Shawn Heywood had one goal
to round out the scoring.
The goals were spread out evenly
through the game with three in the
• first period. two in the second and
three in the third.
The Eagles defense played ex-
cellent, with Andy Thompson , Jamie
Tomes. Laurie Chalmers and Jamie
Bedard having good games to keep
the Lincoln offense off balance. This
allowed Justin Charretts.t9 record his
first shut -out of the season.
The Eagles will be looking to extend
their unbeaten string to 16 games
when they host Strathroy at the South
Huron Rec Centre. Friday night. Ex-
eter will be trying to keep the momen-
tum going as they head into the
playoffs in March.
