K.W winter carnivals.t for weekend
The 18th edition of the Kirkton-
Woodham Winter Carnival is all set
to go this weekend, February 13 to
15.
Carnival Committee Chairman
Murray Insley says the carnival will
open Friday night at the Kirkton-
Woodham Community Centre when
seven area girls will compete for the
honour of becoming Winter Carnival
Oueen.
Last year's winner was Jill Burgin.
The queen contest will be followed by
a dance.
A mixedsno-pitch ball tournament
with eight teams participating is
scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Saturday afternoon will be filled
with a wide variety of novelty races
for the youngsters, snowmobile races
and other events with a dance in the
evening with music supplied by the
Royal Aires.
A Saturday night dance will go with
music supplied by the Royal Aires.
Sunday morning at 9:45 in the com-

service.
This will be followed by a pancake
and sausage brunch from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m.

poker rallies.

nival club was formed in 1970 with the
late Lloyd Jaques as tile first prei
dein and had its beginning in`Ihe 01(1
Aberdeen hall.- now. the scout hall.
The lirst carnival was held tin the
second weekend in February of 1970
The carnival was established to
provide funds for the operation of Girl
Guides and Boy Scouts activities and
capital expenditures for community
projects.
