be examined by your doctor to find
out what your symptoms really mean.
Signs of asthma include: a cough
which is usually dry, chest tightness,
wheezing, shortness of breath, and
difficulty breathing. Attacks can last
from a few minutes to days or even
weeks.
No one knows why airways become
sensitive in the first place, but once
they are, a number of things can pro-
voke an asthma attack. If you happen
to be allergic to something and
breathe it in, it will cause the airways
to constrict. But you don't have to
have allergies to have asthma or have

such as smoke. fumes, sprays, dust,
and cold or dry air can bring on an at-
tack in someone who already has sen-
sitive airways. Not all factors affect
everyone. It varies for each in-
dividual. You might react to such
things as dust mites, animals, fungal
spores, molds and pollens. Some
drugs will provoke an attack, such as
aspirin, and sortie blood pressure and
heaft diease medications. Even food
additive's can aggravate it, including
sulphites, uses as preservatives or for
freshening, and monosodium
glutamate (MSG).
Although asthma is not contagious,
if you have a family history of it you
are more likely to develop it. Asthma
can appear in anyone, at any age, but
it doesn't always last a lifetime. Some
children and a few adults seem to

Asthma attacks can be extremely
serious, but treatment is fairly sim-

limiting exposure to the things that

medications to treat it. There are two

After returning home Brad and his
father became interested in the
finishing hog operation. The former
Gordon Stone farm was purchased
thus giving more space to expand and
area to grow feed.
However Brad had still thoughts of
Australia and the young ladies and on
December 15, 1984 along with cousins
and friends he took the trip to
Australia again and was married to
the lovely Jane Hewitt. After a
delightful honeymoon spent on the
Island he returned to Ushorne
Township where he is managing a
large hog finishing operation.
All brothers enjoyed the program
and look for more such evenings. A
light lunch was served.
