married. They were very happy.
After they were married Caesar
Augustus sent out a decree that
everybody had to go back to their own
town to be counted, It happened that
Mary and Joseph came from
Bethlehem.
They started their long journey to
Bethlehem. It was a very tiresome
journey. They finally made it. They
were very glad
The wandered around Bethlehem to
find an inn to sleep in. But there was
no room in the inn. Then a kind man
noticed that Mary was to have a baby.
He let them have his stable. They
were very thankful. "
That night Mary had Jesus, her
baby, there in that stable with
animals all around.

in regards to the Breothalizer tests, drinking and driving can
become very costly and a punishment such os a jail term and
the loss of your licence can be imposed. BE MUCH WISER —

watching their flocks by night and to
the angel of the Lord came down and
glory shone around. The shepherds
were afraid, but the angel said,
"Don't be afraid I bring you good
tidings that shall be to all men. For
unto you is born in the city of David
a Saviour which is Christ the Lord. He
will be wrapped in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger."
The shepherds went with haste to
worship the New born King and found
him Jest as the angel said. They fell
down to worship Him.
Two years later, wisemen came to
see Jesus in his house. They too fell
down to worship Him, then gave Him
frankincense, myrrh and gold as
presents and were on their way mak-
ing sure that didn't go the way they
came. The Bible tells us that the
Messiah came and will come again.
That's what the real meaning of
Christmas is.
CHRISTMAS EVE

receiving; expect others to turn
the other cheek while too often at-
tempting to extract our own
vengeance; find inexcusable the
faults of others and seldom
acknowledge our own. It's a list
that can be extended ad
nauseam.
Ironically, at this festive and
hol y season, society in general
appears to have fallen into the
ever -encompassing trap of allow-
ing it to present stresses and ex-
cesses of a magnitude that
diminish the enjoyment that
should prevail.
The further irony is that the
escalation of the commercialism
and other factors that contrast
sharply with the simplicity of the
first Christmas comes when the
message 'flowing from pulpits
and the printed word urges a
saner and more reverent
celebration.
Perhaps the time has come for
some reverse psychology? Up-
date the story to jet planes, lavish
hotels and other ingredients of
opulence and grandiose display
and then perhaps those receiving
the message would rebel and
return it to its simplicity.
' Greet friends with a bah! hum-
bug! that is delivered with a
smile rather than the dour looks
with which the normal merrc
Christmas is delivered by many
in the hurried and harried
crowds.
Who knows... it may just work!
As you look around, don't you
think we need to make some
changes?

Best Christmas .present ever
By Chris Vilos
Grade S - Exeter Public Schott/
On the day before Christmas, Bob-
by who was nine; shouted as loud as
he could while he woke up, "One more
day 'til Christmas!"
He got out of bed and started jum-
ping around and yelling "Christmas
is almost here." He ran to the
Christmas tree and woke up his dog
Rickey. He turned on the T.V. on to
the Smurfs. Than was Ricky's

HOW CHRISTMAS
WAS SAVED
By Rochelle Geoffry
Grade 4 - Pectous Blood
Well here is a story that happened
long ago. It is called, How Christmas
Was Saved.
By the way my name is Elfy the
Elf. Well it happened like this. I was
making toys when I heard a scream.
It was Mrs. Claus. I ran to see what
was the matter.
She was on the floor with her knit-
ting needles on her lap and all the
string on her, she was tied up. I un-
tied her and she told me what happen-
ed. "That yvicked witch from the
South Pole again, I said. I better tell
Santa."
"Okay you do that," she said.
I told Santa and he said, "We'll
have to do something about that
witch.
"Oh, I can't stand her, that thing!"
Finally we came up with a plan. It
was to catch the witch and bring her
to the heart lab. We all got the
reindeer ready. And we took off. The
plan worked and we brought her to
the heart lab and gave her a heart and
she worked like a little elf and we sav-
ed Christmas.
My Most Memorable
Christmas
By Sheryl Oke
Grade 8 Usborne Central
It was a very cold day when I
awakened from my deep sleep. I
never thought that a Christmas Day
could give you such a happy feeling
inside. But this Christmas had -made
me so happy.
Outside the birds that were still
around were singing and making
everything outside look so wonderful.
As I was eagerly waiting for my fami-
ly to awake I decided to make some
breakfast for the family.
The next person up was my sister.
She also helped in making the
• breakfast. By the time my brother and
Mom and Dad were up, the breakfast
we had made was ready. After we had
eaten breakfast we went into the liv-
ing room to open presents but before
we opened the presents we sang one
special Christmas Carol.
It was one my past grandmother
loved to sing in German called Silent
Night. After singing carols and open-
ing ptesents, my mother, sister and
myself prepared our dinner. The rest
of the day we played our new games
and watched some Christmas
Specials on TV.
This Christmas had made my fami-
ly realize how lucky we were to have
good food a house and family and
friends.
watching television, Bobby made
cookies and milk all set up on a plate
and put it under the Christmas tree so
Santa could enjoy it. Bobby's Mom
woke up and said, "What is the mat-
ter with you."
"Christmas is here." Bobby said
with enjoyment.
"It's not Christmas day yet
Bobby." -

And see the sleigh ride
So come come along.
"But there's only one day left,"
Bobby replied. "I can't wait to get
- Santa Claus' present tomorrow."
Bobby said.
The next morning Bobby woke up
and looked out the window. He saW his
two friends tobogganing on a bank of
snow. He got of t of bed and went to
the Christmas tree he saw a hockey
stick, a stocking, filled with candies
and toys and he saw the plate with
cooties and the milk. Santa didn't
drink the milk and eat the cookies.
There was a note on the plate and it
said, "Thanks for the cookies and
milk Bobby but I ate cookies and milk
at almost every house I went to", and
under that it said, "There's a present
for you and your dog outside". Bob-
by ran to the door and he opened it. ,
He saw a mini snowmobile covered
with soft fluffy snow and beside it was
a bag of biscuits. Bobby took his coat
and jumped on the snowmobile and
took off. That was Bobby's best
Christmas present ever.
