Htirbour hours s•t for season
The Grand Bend Harbour commit-
tee set new hours of operation for the
1987 season at their regular
December meeting before Christmas.
During the summer months, June
15 until August 31, the harbour
building will be open at 7:00 a.m. If
the hour earlier does not work out, the
hours will be reverted back to the
original ones. The Harbourmaster
will set the appropriate timetable.
Staff must not exceed regular hours,
no overtime.
It was decided that secretary Barb
McGregor would send out letters of
employment to the six members who
were employed in 1986. The commit-
tee felt that previous experience was

duties. Lingard has been a member
since it began. The committee is still
in need of two new members for the

Harbour settled,problems of jet ski
proposal submitted at this meeting by
delegate Mark Darling.
Darling was required to pay a fee
of =100.00 for the launch ramp on
River Road, and'another ;300.00 for
a license to operate. For 1986 one
million dollars of insurance coverage
was required. This has been raised to
two million. Darling will be required
to obtain council's permission to erect
signs in the village.
' To minimize traffic in the harbour,
he was requested to have the
trailor/dock towed out to location and
Jet Ski unloaded at the location. Fuel
fillups must be done on the dock by a
12 volt electric pump, to insure no
spillage. Customers will be picked up
from the peer and taxied to the dock
location. Darling will have six Jet
Ski's at the dock. GB council will pro-

Christmas eve service
Christmas eve services began with
a pre -mass concert at the Im-
maculate Heart of Mary Church on
December 24. The church was filled
with worshippers, over 500, to attend
the beautiful Christmas celebration.
Choir director Lydia Duchou was
assisted by her daughter Denise
Duchou, and junior choir leader Gera
Peters, accompanied by organist
Paul Dietrich. Readers were Mary
Fran Gaiser and Martin Vrolyk.
The senior choir opened with a
selection of carols, old and new, then
the junior choir accompanied by
Lydia Duchou on guitar marched
down the aisle to "I'd Like to Teach
the World to Sing". The senior choir
sang an old Dutch hymn, as the
children prepared at the front for
"Welcome, Christmas," and both
choirs sang "The Snow Lay on the
Ground".
As the congregation joined in "0
Come All Ye Faithful", Father Mor-
rissey escorted tiny Michael Van
Bruane, who tightly clasped the
statue of the infant Jesus, and plac-
ed Him in the crib. Roberta Walker
performed ' 0 HQIy Ni11llif`''al311'solo.
During communion, the choir gave an

masterpiece, the "Halleluia Chorus".
For this special night, Father Mor-
rissey cited the verse "He came unto
His own, and His own received Him
not". Christ came to us, therefore we
are His own - do we also reject Him?
Jesus has made a mark on this earth,
left His presence here from 2000 years
ago. When the sun shines upon the
moon, nothing happens, for it is a
dead satellite. When the sun shines
upon the fertile ground of our earth,
seeds respond and grow, as we bloom
when the light of Christ shines upol
us. Small ideas win quick victories
but large truths require time to. be
believed eventually all the earth will
accept Him as their own Saviour.
Sunday marked the Feast of the He-
ly
o-ly Family, with Bishop Sherlock of the
London Diocese, celebrating. both
Sunday masses here at Grand Bend.
Special blessings were bestowed on
individual families following the
masses.
In his sermon, Father Morrissey
pointed outl`the realities of the Holy
Family of Nazareth. They had to con-
tend with Mary's pre -marital
pregnancy, an untimely birth in a
stable, and several moves, often in
fear and haste. Today's families are
afflicted with these same problems,
as well as drugs, illness, and
unemployment. Every family is
made up of a complicated network of
relationships, like a cobweb - strong,
but affected by the slightest tremor.
Every family member has a
specific role to play, as the children
are encouraged to grow and mature
in an atmosphere of forgiveness,
sharing, flexibility, and most of. all,
love. Each family should be an occa-
sion of love.
Father Morrissey would like to
thank all members of the choir for
their beautiful music, and to thank
Margaret Schoeley, who decorated
the church.
There will be mass on New Year's
eve at 7:15 p.m., as well as masses on
New Year's day at 9 and 11 a.m., to
celebrate the feast day of Mary, the
Mother of God.
Finally, congratulations and
welcome to Sherry Lyn Chapdelaine,
who finished her instructions and was
baptized into the Catholic communi-
ty last week. She received her first
communion on Christmas Day.
Personals
Lorne and Loreen Devine, accom-
panied by their aunt, Mrs. Luella

that high water and flood waters

because of this removal; Adams will
hold the Village liable.

three, slips full on the north docks.
