HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1986-12-17, Page 40A Enjoy bus trip to Geritol A very nice and enjoyable bus trip was had by several from town on December 10 when we, along with others from Dashwood and Exeter; went to Hamilton and saw the after- noon performance of the "Gerital Follies" 1986 Christmas Frolics which was just fantastic, a two -hours long program put on by senior citizens who sang and danced with so much pep and enthusiasm which was held at the beautiful Hamilton Place. Following this we headed for Simcoe where we enjoyed a delicious roast beef supper which was prepared for us, and two other buses full by the ladies at St. James United Church. Afterwards we picked up a guide and went on a two- hour tour and Christmas panorama in Simcoe to see the "Festival of Lights" and Christmas decorations (and were really nice and sure worth while go- ing to see! ) The trip was organized by Pearl Miller of Dashwood who was also hostess on the bus. 1l was just a great day. The family of Kay and Morris Webb held their Christmas dinner at their home on Sunday. ,And the family of Tony and Adeline Denomme held a pre -Christmas get-together at their home last Friday evening. There have been several Christmas staff parties recently. And on December 6 Jerome and I along with several others really enjoyed the one at the arena which was catered by Jerry Rader and his staff. The evening was spent dancing to the music of Mozart's Melody Makers which was also just great! Other staff parties that were held this past week or so were, Tasty Nu Bake Shop. dinner at the Bayfield Village Inn: Westlake's Insurance in London: The post office staff dinner at Hessenland last Friday: and Dr. Wallace Christmas staff dinner in Zurich on Saturday. St. Boniface School staff dinner was held at Oakwood on Saturday followed by a get-together at the home of Betty and Dick Bedard. John and Bernadette Denomme along with her sister, Theresa Stark recently spent a few days visiting in Oakville with their sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Meghan May Peace dwell within your hearts, bringing joy to you and yours this Christ mas season. •o • oo• • ••;ot.. •• •0 o . - Zurich e • o .° rry Chri3ima3 Westlake Insurance Brokers Inc. The family of Charlie and Madeline Rau held their annual Christmas din- ner and party on December 6 at the Stanely Complex in Varna with over 60 enjoying the delicious turkey din- ner. Santa was on hand with gifts for everyone, (young and old alike) A nice day was had by everyone on December 13 when Dolly Jeffrey had a Christmas get-together with all her family at St. Peter's parish hall (which included her 12 children and their spouses and 30 grandchildren plus a few friends). A delicious meal of duck and goose were served com- plete with all the trimmings. Fr. Bensette was also a guest for dinner. Santa Claus came with gifts for all the children, while the grown-ups ex- changed a gift with each other. Dolly received several beautiful presents from her family and enjoyed wat- ching the whole thing on a video tape the next day. Santa Claus will be in town at the Tender Spot on Thursday December 18 from 7:00 to 8':30 p.m. And everyone is invited to drop into the Bank of Montreal during the day on Wednesday (17 and 18) for a cup of coffee and a cookie as it's their annual customer appreciation days. St. Boniface Christmas choir has been busy preparing and practicing for midnight Mass - they have also entertained the residents at the Nur- sing Home in Hensall and Zurich recently as well as put on a program at the Mennonite Church on Sunday night (under the direction of Theresa Van Raay). Lee and Rose Regier recently visited with his father, Pete Regier Sr. who is a patient in the hospital in Kitchener. Brian and Mary -Ann Flaxbard recently visited from Stratford with relatives in town, Harold Thiel and wife Vera, also Earl Flaxbard. Some members of the Mennonite Church enjoyed supper and fellowship at Oakwood Inn Friday evening. Dennis and Rose -Ann Overholt along with another couple recently en- joyed spending a week in Florida ( the first week of December) where they really had a good time! The couple had won a trip to the sunny south from a previous draw in September through the Tender Spot store in Zurich. Fr. Richard Charrette from Spokane, Washington, is presently visiting with his parents, Dennis and Geraldine Charrette, also relatives and friends in the area while on a month's vacation. Welcome into the family of God, lit- tle Justin Michael Laporte, son of Swayne and Theresa who was baptiz- ed on December 7 at St. Boniface Church by Fr. Mooney with his god- parents being Warren and Helen Regier. Also Anita Angela Klaassens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Klaassens was baptized on the same day. Dr. Larry Rogers of London was a recent visitor with Gertie Fleischauer. Jerome and Helene Ducharme spent last week from December 6-14 with a group of relatives from various places. Going to Acapulco in Mexico which they found to be really nice and toured around also. Congratulations to Sylvia Mit- tleholtz who won the $1,000.00 jack -pot at the bingo last Thursday. The mystery prize was split four ways. There were also 20 turkeys given away and the Lions Club sponsored this as their annual Christmas turkey bingo, along with the recreation board. David and Carol Fisher and two children from Calgary are presently spending some time with his parents, Bob and June Fisher for the holidays. Kathy Schenk recently received her orange belt in karate through Tyndell Karate School in Holmesville and Ex- eter.
