Host other Hawks, Friday
Hawks lead over Mitchell only one -point
The Exeter Hawks were drubbed in
both their outings this week, but still
managed to hold onto second place in
the northern division of the Western
Junior "D" loop.
However, that lead over Mitchell
has shrunk to a single point and they
have a game in hand over the locals.
The Hawks also dropped further off
the pace being set by the front -
running Brussels Bulls. The !atter
beat the Hawks 6-2 on Sunday and
now have a nine -point edge and also
one game in hand. The other loss of
the week came in Exeter, Friday,
when the visiting Lucan Irish pound-
ed out a convincing 9-4 triumph,
The local pucksters have four
games this week before the
Christmas break and the outcomes
could be crucial to their efforts to stay
near the top of the loop.
Tonight (Wednesday) they host the
Bulls and need a win to have any hope
of still catching top spot. Friday night,
the Mitchell crew will be in town for
a battle over second place and the
following night the Hawks get a
chance to avenge their loss to the
Irish when they travel to Lucan for an
8:15 p.m. contest.
The busy week concludes on Sun-
day afternoon with a home contest
against Thamesford. It's scheduled
for Hensall with the starting time of
3:30 p.m.
