MR. AND MRS. TIM DOHERTY
Tina Martens, of 25 Kappele Cir-
cle in Stratford, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Martin Martens of RR 1
Dashwood, and Tim Doherty, son
of Mr. and Mrs: John Doherty of
240 Cameron St. in Goderich,
were united in marriage on
August 23 at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church in Grand Bend with
Father R. Morrissey' officiating.
Matron of honor was Mathilda
Martens-Flear, sister of the
bride, London. Bridesmaids were
Mari MacGregor, sister of the
bride, London and Elizabeth
Martens, sister of the bride, RR
1 Dashwood. Junior bridesmaids
were Mary Anne Doherty, sister
of the groom, of Goderich, and
Carrie Lyn Martens, niece of the
bride, of Dashwood. Best man
was Ted Doherty, brother of the
groom, of 240 Cameron St.
Goderich. Ushers were Tom
Doherty, brother of the groom,
Toronto, and Jim Ramsay, friend
of the groom, Waterloo. The
wedding reception was held at
Varna Community Centre.
Following a wedding trip to
Honey Harbour, the couple took
up residence in Listowel.

Seniors have
festive feed
A bountiful Christmas banquet was
served to 125 seniors by the Ladies
Legion Auxiliary.
With president Ruby Beaver
presiding the meeting opened by sing-
ing 0 Canada and repeating the
Lord's Prayer.
Shewelcomed everyone and also
expressed good wishes to the new
president and his officers for the com-
ing year.
She thanked all committees for
their help during her two year term.
On behalf of the club Pat Skinner ex-
pressed thanks to the Ladies Aux-
iliary for the splendid meal. Get well
cards were sent to Elsie Jory and
Mickey Bridges.
The January meeting will be Mon-
day afternoon January 5 and in
February the Exeter police will pro-
vide the program on Crime Preven-
tion for Seniors. Ruby Beaver gave a
short report on the police seminar for
seniors at St. Thomas.
Garnet hicks reported on the senior
apartment project and expressed ap-
prAation to the seniors for their
work.
Irene Davis, past zone president in -
,stalled the incoming officers. She con-
gratulated the past officers and ex-
tended good wishes to the new ones.
Ruby Beaver chaired the program.
Sharon and Peter Snell entertained
with Christmas songs and carols, also
Peter's White Squirrel song.
Readings, were given by Bernice
Cooper, Marion Porter and Ruby
Be.,ver and jokes by Elsie Jory and
Pat Skinner.

The Kirkton Horticulture Society
held its annual meeting and program
on December 2 in the Kirkton-
Woodham Community Hall. There
was a good crowd in attendance.
President Joyce Strahan was
chairlady for the program.
Violin and piano selections were
provided by Mrs. Arnold De Long ac-
companied by Ileen O'Connell. Mrs.
Yvonne Stephens told of the upcom-
ing International ploughing match in
Perth County in 1988 and of competi-
tion for beautification of homes
project.
Mrs. Evelyn Wiles introduced Mrs.
Dorothy Schutt from Mitchell who
demonstrated candy making. Mrs.
REBEKAHS PARTY
Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge held
their Christmas party Wednesday
night starting with a turkey dinner.
Noble Grand Sister Jan Jeffery con-
ducted the business.
Plans were made to decorate a float
for the Santa Claus parade. January
7 will be secret sister night. We are
to bring a gift for the sunshine boxes
in January.
Christmas carols were sung and
Santa arrived to distribute the gifts.
Punch and cookies were served.
Buelah MacDougall thanked her.
Mary Lou Atthill and Nancy Mahaffy
sang Christmas duets.
Mrs. Joyce Strahan gave some of
the Wilights of the years work. Mrs.
Jean L nn read the minutes of last
year's meeting and gave the
treasurer's report.
There was several lucky door
prizes. Several exhibits in Christmas
Arrangement Competition. Those
tak , rt were L s : Hodgins,
Josie Ryckrnan, Marion`F'aster, Jean
Ratcliffe. Mrs. Rosemary. Schaefer
was the judge. .
Mrs. Mary Neil conducted installa-
tion of officers for 11)87. Slate of of-
ficers were: past president Miss Jean
Copeland, president Mrs. Joyce
Strahan, 1st vice presidents Mrs.
Marjorie Atthill and Mrs. Marjorie
Johns. Directors for one year: Mrs.
Olive Selves, Mrs. Marilyn Robinson,
Mrs. Olive Hodgins, Mrs. Evelyn Har-
rigan and Mrs. Jean Ratcliffe. Direc-
tors for two years: Mrs. Myrtle Willis,
Mrs. Margaret Shrader, Miss Ruth
Skinner, Mrs. Mary Tufts,'Mrs. Mar-
jorie Hodgert and Mrs. Josie
Ryckman, Examiners: Mr. Delmer
Skinner and Mrs. Francis Kints.
Mrs. Hall played the cello accom-
panied by Mrs. E. S�. Lunch
was served and a soc time spent.
