Christmas party for
• two Cromarty goups
B y MRS. ROBERT LAING
About 35 members and their guests
attended the annual Christmas party
of Cromarty Ladies Aid and Marian
Ritchie Evening Auxiliary on Monday
evening in the Sunday School room.
This year the Ladies Aid planned
the program with Pearl James
presiding. Lillian Douglas opened it
with a reading of the Christmas
Beatitudes. Using the Christmas
Devotional from the Glad Tidings
magazine, Mrs. James led in the
litany and the meditation was taken
by Mrs. Douglas and Joyce Miller.
The roll call was answered by
everyone naming the most favourite
Christmas gift she had received as a
child.

Lou Norris at the piano, the guest
speaker, Jean Wolfe of Flower Magic
in Seaforth demonstrated making
floral Christmas arrangements using
real flowers. In her presentation,
Mrs. Wolfe gave several hints such as
placing all the greenery first, rotating
the arrangement as you work, clean-
ing off all greenery stems that go in-
to the water, and never pulling stems
part way out of the oasis but rather
pulling them right out and inserting
them in a fresh spot.
The large table centre which she
made was won in a draw by Eve
Chabassol, and the corsage by Helen
Parsons. -A delicious buffet lunch was
served by the Marian Ritchie
members.
No doubt Cromarty Ladies Aid
members were surprised last week to
find that they had met at Pearl
James's home for their last meeting.
My apologies to Pearl and to Rober-
ta Templeman who was really the
hostess.
Rev. Robert Johnston of Baden was
the guest speaker at Sunday's church
service and he spoke on the meaning
of Advent and its call to people to re-
joice. He also shared some of his ex-
periences in his work as a missionary
in the Inner -City.
Steven Pullmanlit the first Advent
Candle and was assisted by LariJo
Gardiner in the Adient Ceremony.
Mrs. Ivan Norris played a medley of
Christmas carols as a prelude and ac-
companied Jean Carey, Cathy Elliott,
Margaret Miller and Alice Gardiner
as they sang In a Cave.
