A meeting has been scheduled for
tomorrow. Thursday in an attempt to
settle the 10 day strike at the GRW
plan( at Huron Park.
Canada Auto Workers national
representative Bert Rovers told the T-
A Tuesday morning that company
and union officials would meet at the
Howard Johnston in London with
Fraser Keane, a mediation officer
with the Ministry of Labour.
.Ro.ors said all GRW employees at
the Huron Park plant were registered
for strike benefits Monday and will be
entitled to $lax) per week plus benefits.
About 25 strikers of GRW and
members of Canada Auto Workers
Local 1620 are continuing picket lines
at the plant.
Rovers added, "The company has
in fact attempted to move some
equipment from the local plant.••

reported that this fee covers work
done by council members throughout
the year which includes two regular
council meetings a month, plus
special meetings, site meetings and
road tours. He estimated that at least
30 council meetings are hdld each
year. As well council members attend
a variety of seminars and
conventions.
As well, council members sit on
various other committees. Bill
Dowson is the township represen-
tative on the Bayfield Fire Area
Board; Richard Erb, Zurich Fire
Area Board; Jack Coleman, Clinton
Fire Area Board; Clarence Rau,
'Farm Safety Association; Howard
Armstrong, Ausable Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority. '
In other business, council approv-
ed a $500 donation for the Federation
of Agriculture, as has been the prac-
tice in previous years.
Huron Board of Ed
trustees named
Trustee Art Clark of Wingham was
acclaimed Monday as 1987 chairman
of the Huron County board of educa-
tion while John Jewitt of RR 1 Clin-
ton, became vice-chairman.
Clark, an engineer who was vice-
chairman this year, succeeds trustee
Eugene Frayne of RR 3 Goderich.
Trustees also were named
chairmen of various committees:
Joan Van den Broek of Goderich,
education; Tony McQuail of
Lucknow, management; Graeme
Craig of Walton, personnel, and
Donald McDonald of Brussels,
executive.
Frayne and trustee Dennis Rau of
RR 2 Zurich, who represented
separate school supporters on tbe;
public board, will no longer be board
members. Their positions are being
• eliminated because of provincial
legislation that extends full financing
to Roman Catholic school boards.

We had another banner weekend in
the history of the Blue Water Rest
Home. On Sunday, the 20th anniver-
sary of the Blue Water Rest Home
was celebrated, also the official open-
ing of the new Elmer Lawson
Auditoritun.
John Warner of the apartments
presided at the organ for the opening
ceremonies. Greetings were brought
by Lionel Wilder, Reeve of Hay
Township; Robert Fisher, Reeve of
the Village of Zurich; The Hon. Jack
Riddel, MPP for Huron -Middlesex
County; Murray Cardiff, MP for
Huron and Bruce County, who
presented a picture of the Queen to be
hung in the auditorium; David
Harvey, program supervisor,
Ministry of Community and Social
Services, London.
Mrs. Janet Krahn, Exeter, sang
two beautiful solos during the dedica-
tion service. Rev. Clayton Kuepfer, of
the Zurich Mennonite Church, read
the scripture lesson and gave the in-
vocation. Father P.F. Mooney, St.
Boniface Roman Catholic Church,
Zurich, dedicated the new addition.
The ribbon was cut by 101 year old
resident, Mrs. Matilda Tetreau.
A sister-in-law of the late Elmer
Lawson, Mrs. Fern Love, unveiled the
plaque, officially naming the
auditorium to the memory of the late
Elmer Lawson, a former resident of
the Home.
Following the officai ceremonies,
visitors were invited to tour the
facilities and to the dining room for
refreshments.
On Monday evening, the movies
shown were "Christmas in the Holy
Land" and "Wings to Italy".
Residents enjoyed the music of the
Christian Reformed Church choir on
Tuesday evening. We welcome Mrs.
Verlyn Fisher and Mrs. Margaret
Adams, a former Dashwood resident.
We were pleased to have Mr. Melvin
Percy's group of entertainers from
London on Saturday afternoon. In-
cluded in the group was Mr. Glen
.Deichert, Mr. Peter Deichert's son of
London. Many expressed their
pleasure in having these entertainers
present.
The Sunday evening chapel service
was conducted by Rev. George
Cowan of Hensall United Church.
Mrs. Belva Fuss presided at the
organ during the service.
