About people you know.
The air is cold, most of us have the
leaves raked and gardens put to bed
by now, and the Christmas season ap-
proaches. Even if you can't quite get
into that Christmas spirit, you'd bet-
ter start those Christmas cards soon,
and work on your gift list. 'All too soon,
the stores will become more crowd
ed, the snow will fall, and the roads
congest with frantic shoppers. Still,
some early birds have gotten out their
Christmas lights, to brighten our
darkness, and beautify the night.
Those lovely, sparkling lights never
fail to gladden my heart, and to re-
mind me of the coming of the Light

Catholic News
-Pastor Father Robert Morrissey
was celebrant at all masses on this
weekend, marking the First Sunday
of Advent. Members of the parish
assisted him in lighting the first can-
dle of the advent wreath, to begin the
service. Denise Duchou was the
reader, Lydia Duchou was cantor.
Organist Paul Dietrich accompanied
the choir in their special numbers,
"People Look East," and "He's
Everything to Me".
In his sermon, Father Morrissey
discussed the proper view toward
eternal salvation. People are mainly
concerned with their own personal
salvation, yet Jesus taught the
Apostles to feed the hungry, clothe the
poor and tend the sick, keeping
religion involved amidst life, while
never allowing them to forget eterni-
ty. Get ready and stay awake, for we
do not know the hour, in fact, we
seldom consider eternity at all. Jesus
teaches us that life does not end with
death, to change our attitude toward
the things of this world, we must
develop a more loving relationship
with the peoplein our lives and live
every day witeternity in view.
Congratulations to Kevin Henry
Baltessen, the infant son of Lambert
and Nelly (Caris) Baltessen, and to
Mark Joseph Kelders, the son of
Joseph and Marlene (Vermunt)
Kelders, who were both received in-
to the Catholic community this past
week by the sacrament of baptism.
John and Ann Grootjens would like to
thankIli of their family and friends,
who helped to make their wedding an-
niversary such a special, memorable
day.
Attention Cor kids: There will be an
Encor on December 7 at 2 p.m. at St.
Marys' in the Holy Name of Mary
School. This will give you a chance to
meet your new leader, Father Ray
Penaud.

ed upon Romans 5:12-21.

It warns of the duty we are to do,
and the dangers we are to avoid. The
book of Proverbs is a great help in our
efforts to gain Wisdom; in Matthew
7:24-27, Jesus warns of the danger of
r
not making sure our faith is truly built
on a firm foundation. Jesus Hirr.self
