In shuffleboard
Lovell records high' scores
Lloyd Lovell recorded two' of the
highest, scores of the week in the
regular shuffleboard competition at
the South Huron Rec Centre and led
the men on Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday, Lovell's score was 413 and
he was followed by Howard Johns 386
and Ross Richardson 339. The best

In Wednesday's play, Iva Blair not-
ched the top score of 311 for the ladies.
Next came Pearl McKnight 274 and
Marion Dearing 259. Howard Johns
led the men with 301. Lloyd Lovell
scored 297 and Charles Hendy 296.
Thursday, Lovell enjoyed his high
score of 477 followed by John Eberle
436 and Phil Hern 432. The best scores
for the ladies were Olive Essery 342
and Bea Ballantyne 218.
Huron Park
wins ringette
The Huron Park Pacers picked up
another win Saturday night at the
Stephen Arena defeating Port Stanley
3-0.
Theresa McGee scored twice and
Dianne McCuaig pieked up one goal
in the victory.
The Pacers head to Milverton this
weekend for their first tournament
action and then travel to Port Stanley
on December 12..
The next Pacers home game will be
against Forest City on December 20
at 8:30 p.m. at the Stephen arena.

Irish lose again to Belmont
For the second time in two weeks,
the Lucan Irish were defeated by the
Belmont Bomber$ and continue in se-
cond place in the OHA Western Junior
"D" standings now six points behind
the league leaders from Belmont.
Wednesday on home ice, the Irish
had little trouble in disposing of the
Thamesford Trojans by a 7-3 score,
but in Belmont Saturday night were
on the short end of a 7-5 count to the
Bombers.
Although seven points back of Bel-
mont, the Lucan club has three extra
games to play and is tied with the
Generals get
a Shamrock point
The Exeter Kinsmen Generals
gained only one point in two
Shamrock league games this week.
Wednesday at home they played to a
4-4 tie with Parkhill and Saturday
were on the short end of a 6-2 score
to Port Stanley.
Jim Dickens fired two successful
shots against Parkhill. One was on an
unassisted effort and the other carne
on a pass from Darrel McCann. •
The other Exeter scores came from
the sticks of Bryan Quinn on a three
way passing combination with
McCann and Dickens and Jeff Hoff-
man hit on a pass from Jeff Kints.
Against Port Stanley both Exeter
goals came on power play attempts.
They were fired by captain Tim
. Moore and Darrell McCann. The on-
ly assist went to Richard Voogel.
Pee wee Bullets
lose to St. Marys
In pee wee houseleague action this
week, the Exeter Bullets dropped a
2-1 decision to St. Marys.
The only Exeter score came on an
unassisted effort by Ryan
Lindenfield.

Bombers in the loss cdlumn with four.
In upcoming action, the Irish hook
up in a home and home series with the
Mount Brydges Bulldogs. They play
in Lucan tonight, Wednesday and
back in Mount Brydges, Sunday. In
between the Lucan club will be ih Mit-
chell Friday night.
Start Early
Against Thamesford Wednesday
night, the Irish started quickly with
three unanswered goals in the first
period.
Wayne Urbshott converted a pass
from Bob Thirlwall, Dean Schram hit
on passes from Paul Deplanche and
Dean Doerr while Jesse Crawford
registered on a three-way effort with
Brad Muir and Bob Thirlwall.
In the middle frame, Paul Barnes
scored on a pass from Scott Denomy
and teamed with Thirlwall to set.up
a score by Terry Knowles.
Barnes and Brad Muir were the
third period marksmen for the Irish
with assists going to Brad Hodgins
and Dean Doerr.
Second Period Scoring
Each team scored four times in the
second period to take care of most of
the scoring inSaturday's Belmont 7-5
win over Lucan.
The only goal of the first period was
chalked up by captain John Evert of
the Bombers.
Early in the second, Paul Gilks and
Pat Van Bommel registered for Bel-
most before the Irish were able to hit
the scoreboard.
The first two Lucan goals came on
successful power plays with Joe
Febrey and Wayne Urbshott blinking
the red light. Scott Denomy assisted
on both and single assists were
credited to Brad Muir and Denomy.
In the last five minutes of the se-
cond session, Van Rommel and Gilks
counted for Belmont and Joe Febrey
and Rob Thirlwall replied for the
Irish. Urbshott, Muir and Brad
Hodgins assisted.
The only Lucan goal of the third
period was fired by Wayne Urbshott
for his second goal of the night on
passes from Jesse Crawford and Brad
Muir.
