First bantam win
The Exeter bantams scored their
first victory of the Shamrock hockey
league season Monday night as they
edged Ilderton by a 6-5 score.
Wednesday the locals coached by
Ron Bilcke lost 7-5 to Lucan and
Saturday were on the short end of a
4-2 count to the Goderich Elevators.
Captain Larry Lewis led the Exeter
club in the win over Ilderton with a
two goal effort. One came on a solo
dash and the other on passes from
Jeff Rowe and Harlen Tinney.
The other marksmen were Jeff
Chipchase, Doug Clark, Shaun Guillet
and Harlen Tinney. Mark Burton
picked up a pair of assists while Bruce
Papple, Dave Dalrymple, Jeff Rowe,
Harlen Tinney and Larry Lewis each
helped on one goal.
Will Pierson was tops for Ilderton
with three goals. Scoring in single
fashion were Greg Walls, Jack Legg
and Sean Vrasman.
In the loss to Goderich, Jeff Rowe
scored on an unassisted effort and
provided the pass for a successful
shot by Shaun Guillet to account for
the Exeter scoring.
Doug Clark with three goals led the
Exeter attack in the loss to Lucan.
The other scores were notched by
Larry Lewis and Shaun Guillet. AI
Blommaert assisted on two goals and
Kinsmen midgets win two
The Exeter Kinsmen Generals won
two of three Shamrock league midget
games this week to open their 1986-87
season.
The home opener Wednesday night
saw the locals fall behind early and
then rally for a 3-2 victory over
Lucan.
Goals by Ken Rollinpo and Troy Ed-
dington staked the visitors to a 2-0
Lead before Darryl McCann con-
nected late in the second period on a
pass from Richard Voogel.
In the third period Exeter got two
goals in less than a minute from Jeff
Kints and Bill Vandeworp to take the
win. Shawn Moore, Jim Dickens and
Mark Coward picked up assists as
Fred Gregus recorded the win in goal.
In Goderich Saturday, the Generals
spotted the home team an early lead
and never recovered as they dropped
a 6-2 decision. Darryl McCann scored
a goal and picked up an assist on a tal-
ly by Tim Moore. Steve Lingard also
added an assist. Deric Martin was in
net for Exeter.
Sunday in Parkhill the visitors
jumped into a 5-0 lead and held on for

The Exeter Waxers dropped a pair
of games in Shamrock league novice
hockey action this week.
Wednesday, the Waxers dropped a
5-1 decision to Strathroy and Sunday
were on the short end of a 6-1 score
to Lucan.
Marty DeBruyn scored the only
goal against Strathroy on an
unassisted effort and again fired the
only successful shot against Lucan
with Kevin Ross assisting. Also play-
ing well for the locals were Chris
McDonald and goalie Jason
Lindenf icld.
The Waxers are back in action Fri -
l•,, in I)nrkhill
a 7-2 triumph. Jeff Kints and McCann
lead the winners with two goals each
while Paul Mellecke, Tim Moore and
Steve Lingard added singles.
McCann, Lingard, Mellecke and
Moore each added two assists with
singles going to Mark Coward, Jim
Dickens, Frank Wulterkens and
Shawn Moore. Fred Gregus was in
net for the wins.
The Generals host Lambeth,
Wednesday night in their next
Shamrock league action.
BRONCOS WIN TWO
The Exeter Broncos won two atom
division hockey games this week. In
exhibition play, the Broncos blanked
Clinton 10-0 and in Shamrock action
edged Lucan by a 3-2 count.
In the runaway victory over Clip
-
ton, Steve Farquhar was the scorirfg
star for the Broncos with a foo r goal
effort.
Two of Farquhar's scores came on
unassisted dashes and on the otjier
two assists were provided by Derek
Beckett, Trevor Tayor and Ryan
Stuart.
Close behind in the scoring depart-
ment with two successful shots apiece
were Derek Beckett and Trevor
Taylor. Helping on these goals were
Ryan Stuart, Paul Charrette and Sean
McCann.
The other goals for the Exeter club
were,_ shot by Ryan Stuart on an
unassistaed effort and Sean McCann
on a pass from Ian Jean.
Joel Campbell went on a scoring
spree in the win over Lucan with all
three goals. Providing the passes
were Steve Farquhar, Sean McCann
and Trevor Taylor.
The Lucan goals were notched by
Scott Smith and Jamie Lightfoot on
passes from Doug Hotson and Jason
Hodgin,.
Victorios for SN gross country teams
In the Huron Perth Cross Country
meet Friday, the senior girls over-
whelmingly placed first defeating se-
cond place finisher, Goderich, by 19
points. The runners from the senior
girls team are Sheila Regier, second,
Sandra Rooseboom fourth, Rosemary
Regier fifth, Barb Lawson eighth,
Bonnie Turnbull ninth, Jenifer Mann
10th, Kathleen Little 12th, Janice
Ducharme 14th, Sheri •Varley 19th,
Maureen Masse 23rd, Teresa Whiting
26th, and Stacy Sommerville who
didn't finish because of an injury.
. Jeanette Van Esbroeck, Sandra
Relouw and Christine Chalmers will
hopefully be healed from their in-
juries to compete at WOSSA.
The senior boys also placed first,
defeating Goderich by five points. Top
runners for the team were Larry
Miller fourth, Glenn Durie eighth,
Craig Winbow 10th and Scott Regier
11th. Larry Miller sacrificed a sure
single assists went to Harlen Tinney,
Dave Dalrymple, Doug Clark and
Prentice Scott.
Mike Damen notched two goals to
lead the Lucan team. Getting one goal
apiece were Pat Arts, Tim Hayter,
Steve Snider and Tim Hayter.

Henri Debruyn 12th, George
Ducharme 14th, Dave McCurdy 17th,
Jason McFalls 18th, Mike Hern 21st,

The midget girls placed fourth
overall with Kim Van Dongen coming
in first after a long battle with a St.
Marys runner to win. Also running
were Wanda Turnbull 10th, Michelle
Chalmers 12th and Mandl Fields 25th
who completed the race with a very
sore foot to try to help the team to
qualify for WOSSA.
