Recent news reports concerning the Farm Improvement Loans Program are misleading, Wise said: The federal cabinet has not yet been ask- ed to make any decision on the future the. program. of The Farm Improvement Loans Act (FILA), first passed in 1945, guarantee intermediate-term loans to farmers for the purposes of buying equipment or improving their Operations. In 1985, about 12,000 loans worth $165 million were guaranteed under the program. The legislation has always had a Asks to end discrimination Terry O'Connor, MPP for Oakville and P.C. justice critic again called on the Attorney General to end the discrimination against Ontario citizens living outside of Metropolitan 'Toronto when processing claims through Small Claims Court. "The situation still exists whereby residents d Metropolitan Toronto can process a claim for up to $3,000 through the Small Claims Court system, but anyone else in Ontario, by virtue of their address, is limited to claims of up to $1,000," said O'Connor. "This is clearly unfair. and must be rectified." O'Connor raised the matter with the Attorney General in a letter last year, dated August 6, 1985. The Courts of Justice Act provides for increases in the monetary jurisdiction of Small Claims Court by way of regulation, and does not require amendment to the legislation. "Fourteen months later we still have no action by. the Attorney General," stated O'Connor. "The solution is so easily within reach, and yet he fails to do anything. This is hardly in keeping with his promises to ensure equal access to the justice system for all citizens. Such blatant discrimination with the blessing of the Attorney General, must stop now. - Christian School Many activities continue at the Clin- ton and District Christian School. The building program progresses daily. ProLife Walkathon - Sandra Vander - Wal Grade eight • About 25 students from the school participated in the Pro-life Waikathom October 4. The 161cm. run or walk was from Goderfth to Clinton, or vice versa: We set out at 8 a.m. At 11:30 it began raining and the people who finished the walk in -the rain deserve a lot of credit. All those who took part really believe in what they are doing to stop abortion. Read-a-thon - Tricia Bos Grade six Our school is very busy reading! For seven weeks we are in a read-a- thon to earn money for sets of World Book Encyclopedia. Seven weeks of reading, seven books and seven spon- sors per book is each student's goal. This will raise $24.50 to help pay. for 'a classrooin set. Medals can be earn- ed for reading more! Thanksgiving Assembly - Ark Burns Grade seven On October 10 a festive mood was in the school. All students brought food gifts to be given to needy families ..of the community. At a school assembly, we.enjoyed: student sing- ing, some drama, choral speaking and instrument playing. Scripture passages Ps. 100 and Col. 3: 12-17 were read. The gym- was well decorated by the grade eight class. We closed in prayer and wished all a truly thankful weekend of praising God for His many great and good gifts to us. Elizabeth Court Apartments 1 - 2 & 3 Bedrooms available Features appliances, carpet throughout, laundry facilities, all utilities includ- ed. Located at -176 Oxford St., Hensall Ontario Phone 262-2846 Ask about special bonus sunset clause, resulting in periodic reviews and adjustments to the Act. The current Act expires December 31, 1986. • "I consider it a priority that Cana- dian farmers have access to adequate credit, Wise said. "I will ensure that my Cabinet colleagues are aware of the important role FILA has played in helping farmers over the last 40 years. At this point, it is clearly premature to talk about the pro- gram's demise " To hear milk board candidates On Thursday, October 23, 8:00 p.m. at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre in Brussels Huron dairymen will have an opportunity to meet and hear from the candidates running for the position of Ontario Milk Marketing Board member for Region 11 1 Huron, Bruce and Grey counties ). We started off with the 4-H pledge. Our of- ficers are Brydon Gryseels is presi- dent, Robin Poole treasurer and Shonyn Baynham press reporter. Next we discussed our roll call nam- ing the types of milks we use. Two percent was most common. Then we read through our books, asking ques- tions and making suggestions. Ther we headed for the kitchen, there we sampled a variety of milks. After that we started our cooking. We started with your basic white sauce then turn- ed it into a cheese fondue taking turns stirring and adding ingredients. Then we made our hot cocoa.
