Three wins for senior basketball girls

There was quite a few cross coun-
try teams competing in the meet at
Kitchener on Thursday.
In the senior girls there were 150
runners with South Huron runners
Rosemary Regier placing 54th, Sheila
Regier 61st, Kathleen Little 72nd, San-
dra Roosenboom 90th, Janice
Ducharme 92nd, Bonnie Turnbull 94th
and Sheri Varley 114th.

Kim VanDongen did exceptionally
well in the midget girls with a plac-
ing of third out of 253 runners. Also
running were Wanda Turnbull 79th,
Michelle Chalmers 81st and Mandl
Fields 187th.
For the senior boys Glenn Durie
placed 102nd and Craig Winbow plac-
ed 109 out of 267 runners.
There were 400 runners in the junior
boys with Larry Miller 43rd, Scott
Regier 91st, Henri Debruyn 221st,
Dave McCurdy 227th, Mike Hern
239th and Brent Bell 340th.
Huron -Perth Cross Country is
scheduled for tomorrow. (Friday).

The senior boys volleyball team
participated in a tournament in
Wingham on Tuesday. They won two
out of their six games.
The locals won one game and lost
one to Wingham, lost both games to
Stratford Central and won one and
lost one to Mitchell.
Coach Joe Jankowski was pleased
with the way they played their games
against Stratford Central. Stratford
Central has not been beaten by any
team yet but the local team has
managed to score the most points on
to Si. Mike's 21-14 in their game
Wednesday.
Coach Brian O'Connell said "the
team should have won both of their
games."

Three wins were recorded by the
senior girls basketball last week.
The girls played in Wingham Mon-
day and won with a score of 32-8. Kel-
ly Coon was the top scorer with ten
points.
In their game Wednesday at
Norwell the Panthers won 55-21. The
high scorer in this game was Laurie
Forrester with 15 points.
A great performance was shown by
the whole team in their game Friday.
All the girls on the team scored at
least one basket against St. , Marys
making the score 58-28 for the Pan-
thers. Top scorers were Kerry Dietz
with 11 points and Laurie Forrester
with 10 points.
The SHDHS junior girls basketball
team managed a big win over
Norwell last week.
The juniors travelled to Wingham
on Monday and lost the game by a

The midget girls basketball team
has not been doing as well as
expected.
In their game Monday they lost to
Wingham 41-37 and the team also lost
Marys. The score was 37-25 with top
scorers Cassie VanDongen, Heather
Rideout and Kathy Merner with eight
points each.
The South Huron junior and senior
football teams will be competing to-
day for first place in the league
against Goderich. Both Exeter and
Goderich teams have recorded tour
wins and no losses throughout the
season so they should be interesting
games. The juniors play first with the
game starting at 1:30 p.m.
So everybody get out your banners
and warm blankets and come out to
the local high school to cheer the
South Huron Panthers on.

In their field hockey games on
Thursday and Tuesday the SHDHS
girls shut out two more teams.
The guts won their game Thursday
6-0 against Listowel. Scoring for the
Panthers were Ronalynn Bell with
four, Kim Ci`awford and Mona Brand
with one each. Tina Campbell record-
ed the shutout.
On Tuesday the girls won against
Mitchell 8-0. Goal scorers were Mona
Brand with three, Lee O'Rourke and
Joelle Lamport with two each and
Kim Crawford with one goal.
The field hockey team plays against
St. Marys Wednesday and they also
play in the semi-final on Friday.

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS — Pam MacGregor of Cedar Lane
Farm, Parkhill, astride her gelding, "Dreamweaver" won the Ontario
Cross Country Trials Association 1986 championships for both Level
I and Level II. The cross country competitions were held at Checkmate
Farm in the challenging terrain near Feversham, Ontario, on Sun-
