Sometimes I wonder if men and
women really suit each other.
Perhaps they should live next door
and just visit now and then. Katharine Ilepturn

ladies' workshop Y;
marriage, pro-life
The Mount Carmel council of the
Catholic Women's League sponsored
a one -day workshop on October 8,
held at the Dashwood Community
Centre. About 150 ladies attended
from the Stratford Deanery, which is
comprised of 24 CWL councils from
Grand Bend to Wingham.
Dianne Kaak, ,president of the
Mount Carmel CWL, welcomed the
group and introduced the head table.
Rev. W. McKenna of London,
Spiritual Director of the CWL for the
Loh don Diocese, addressed the ladies.
The theme for the CWL this year is
"Stewardship and Renewal, Faith
and Conversion." Therefore the
workshop focused on one convenor -
ship, Christian Family Life, with con-
venor Angela DeBruyn of Blenheim,
who is also Diocesan President-elect
of the CWL.
Mrs. DeBruyn introduced Father
Sharpe, of Stratford, who spoke about
the "Preparation and celebration of
marriage within the Church." He felt
there is too much concentration on the
wedding day and not enough on mar-
ried life. The marriage should
become a solid, visible sign of God's
love within the community. The wed-
ding is the parish celebration of the
sacrament.
A marriage is the dedication of two
people to each other, within their
community, in fidelity, in fruitfulness
of our labor, talents and children, in
all honesty, in a sense of oneness and
real friendship, and in prayer. That
is why the community has such a
vested interest in the successful mar -
