Club members are expected to present a good book and be a good all round member. In the. recent Garden Club members were encouraged to try novel ideas like carving their name on a pumpkin, growing Indian corn, gourds and popcorn, braiding the tops of drying onions as well as preserv- ing and pickling their produce. The boys proved that they could' make good pickles by giving a sam- ple and the girls who are taking piano lessons played instrumentals which were enjoyed. The Family and Consumers Affairs committee was in charge of the pro= gram. Mary Rowcliffe gave a humourous reading and the motto, "A house depends on the depth of the purse, a home depends on the depth of the heart," was well taken by Laura Sillery. President Erlma Keller opened the meeting with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Members were reminded of the Hospital Tag days October 3 and 4. A donation was voted to the Hospital. Any member wishing to attend the area convention in London October 16 and 17 should call the president or secretary before October 1. Fern Dougall and Olive Hicks will be delegates. Next meeting October 29, will be special as Hurondale is entertaining Elimvile W.I. and the district presi- dent. The speaker will be Karen McLagan of the Advanced Agricutlural Leadership Program. All 'are welcome. Pentecostal ladies meet The September meeting of the Women's Ministries of the Pentecostal Church was held at the home of Mrs. Ruth McLaren with 10 members present. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Jean Triebner and prayer was -offered by Mrs. Edith Millar. The roll call was answered by everyone with a scripture verse con- taining the word, "glorify". The financial report was given by Mrs. Mary Blanchard. A letter was read by Mrs. Jean Triebner from Bethell Home. Mrs. Ruth McLaren read a coupl o poems as her special numbermissionary reading was given by Idena Desjardine about missionaries in Newfoundland. Mrs. Shirley Prouty gave the message on how we can have a vic- torious life in Christ. She referred to Romans 7:11 and Romans 8:1. Prayer time followed with each member par- ticipating. Several choruses were then sung. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Connie Donnan and Ruth McLaren assisted by Mrs. Ada Triebner.
