The September 23 meeting of Xi
Gamma Nu was held at the home of
Sharon Davis with Barb Poole as co -
hostess. After a short business
meeting, Sandy Campbell started her
program which was on the Middle
East. The country she chose to do was
Israel and she gave us some
background information first as to its
size, location and other facts.
She then introduced the speaker
Mrs. Nola Evans of Lambeth who
shared some very interesting slides
on Israel.
Tea and coffee were served by
Sharon and Barb and a delicious
dessert which Barb made from a
recipe of the Middle East ended the
evening.

4-11 Club news
Grand Bend 4-H club, number two,
held their second meeting at leader
Joan Love's on September 22. Roll
call was answered by "Telling all the
different types of milk your family
uses and how they are used."
They had questions on myths of
milk, and read about nutrients of milk
and how it comes to our table, why
and how to pasteurize milk, about
homogenizing milk and vitamins add-
ed to milk. We learned about different
types and fats of milk, eg. goats milk
and chocolate milk.
We studied charts comparing
nutrients of goat's and cow's milk and
we decided we liked cow's milk bet-
ter. We read sections on special milk,
such as U.H.T. lactose reduced milk
and concentrated milk. We read how
to buy and store milk, and about cook-
ing with it and making white sauces.
After our learning session we went
to the kitchen where we made hot
chocolate, creamy pasta and
macaroni and cheese, all from
scratch, then enjoyed sampling it for
lunch.
We welcomed two new members,
Patti Desjardine and Angela Zielman.
Officers elected at the last meeting
were president, Helen Warden, vice-
president Nancy Volk, secretary
treasurer Elizabeth Gaudier, press
reporter Connie Russell.
