FAIR HOMECRAFT QUEENS -- Crowns were presented to all the
Queens and Princesses in the Homecraft section at the Exeter Fair
Friday night. At the back from the left are the presenters Nancy
Smith, Linda Johns, Kothy Siep, Barb Passmore, Marjorie Johns and
Lir
Rhea Greene. In front from the left are Sewing Queen Marylou
Thompson, Sewing Princess Cathy Norris, Baking Queen Mary Rustin,
Baking Princess Ann Delbridge, Flower Queen Josie Ryckmon and
Arts and Crafts Queen Darlene Lynn.
Six crowned with fair titles
Six queens and princesses were
crowned in the homecraft division at
the Exeter fair I•'rida} night.
Josie I{vckman of Exeter was
crowned queen of flowers with Evelyn
Harrigan of Lucan finishing a very
close second. Rhea Greene ac-
cumulated the most points in cul
flowers, Maxine Sereda displayed the
best basket of cul flowers. Gladys
Cudmore had the prize winning
mums and.the best Bird of Paradise
arrangement was exhibited by Olga
!fern.
Darlene Lynn. Centralia emerged
as queen of arts and crafts with last
year's winner Rhea Greene in second
spot.
Best stained ceratnic article prize
went to Beverly Davies. Crediton:
refinished woodworking article to
Floyd (toper, Exeter: handmade
Christmas decoration Cathy Pfaff,
Exeter; nature designed picture
featuring beans Dolores Shapton, Ex-
eter and human bein's salt and pep-
per collection Cathy Seip.
Photographic winners Elfreda
Gooch, London; Jill Harburn, Staffa;
and Paul Armstrong and David Hann,
both of Exeter.
Mary Lou Thompson of Exeter was
named sewing queen with Emily
Coultis of Varna placing second.
Shirley Kerslake, Exeter was winner
of the Busy Bee special and other sew-
ing winners were nightgown, Olive
Thomson, Exeter; child's jogging
suit, Nancy Smith, Exeter; quilt top
only, Olga Hern, Woodham.
Most points in mats and quilts went
to [Sahel Annis, Mitchell and also best
of show quilt. Others were best hand
made doll, Ruth Johnson, London;
crocheted place mates, Anna
Dolmage, Londesboro; knitted
children's sweater, Rita VanWieren,
Hensall,
Mary Ruston of St. Marys is the
new baking queen with Beatrice
Fleming of Brucefield in second posi
tion. Best soya date squares Donan
Price, Exeter; most home canning
points Sheila Miller, Dashwood, best
bean relish Diane Andrews, Cen-
tralia; best chili sauce Erlma Keller,
Exeter and most points in jams and
jellies Laura Hern, Woodham.
Mayor Bruce Shaw was the judge
of the pecan pie baking contest which
he sponsors. After tasting eight
delicious pies, the mayor selected the
pie made by Bonnie Sitter of Exeter
as the best. Kathy Bray, Exeter won
the muffins prize; chocolate dessert
special went to Hazel Corbett, Hensall
and Diane Shapton, Exeter had the
best educational display of potatoes.
There were 87 entries in the Golden

was second. Karen Foster, Kirkton
had the best brownies; Joanne Slaght,
Crediton won most points in junior
arts and crafts and the best article
made from wood was shown by
Russell Sitter, Exeter.

Deb Hodge, Crediton; Dorothy
Balsdon, Exeter wins a handknit car-
digan; a pieced cushion goes to Dean
Smith, Exeter and the winner of a
carrot pike is Dunc Etherington.
