Sunday Scho. gets awards
`his was Sunday School Sunday,
the time when all the children receiv-
ed awards for their diligence
throughout the year; the teachers
were re -dedicated and families pro-
mised their support - an enjoyable
time, filled with good singing, finger
exercises, hilarious skits and lots and
lots of laughter: .
Excuse me, Sunday School isn't
really like that you say, oh, ours is!
Well, anyway it's only for babies and
very small children, where they lisp
through "Jesus loves me".
Oh, isn't that sad, we have big boys
and girls and even teen agers in our
Sunday School. The lessons are easy
to understand, timely, never boring or
dull and if you don't pay strict atten-
tion, you could miss the punch line.
Come for a visit and just see,how you
like us.
An the children sang ' ,We promise
to love you too".
Children are a heritage of the Lord.
Train up a child in the way he should
go and when he is old he will not
depart from it. As parents and grand-
parents it is our duty to our children,
to see that they get a Christian educa-
tion. It is not possible to "make it" in
this society and this time frame
without the sound basic principals of
right and wrong. The grey areas have
to be clearly defined by loving parents
and teachers alike. Examples must
be set and every role model figure,
must be extrelnely careful of the im-
age he or she is projecting.
Sunday September 28 at 7 p.m. the
induction service for Jewell and Dar-
rell Shaule will be conducted by Mid-
dlesex Presbytery - Plan to attend.

read about Deborah, a leader of Isreal
and Martha, a misunderstood woman
who was once rebuked by Jesus.
We heard of how the exclusion of
women angered Christ, as written by
Rev. Peter Wyatt. Anne told us of
Aquie Squire the first lay woman
t erator who hopes "to build
bridges between people in the pew
and those they perceive to be running
things". A bulletin from the Observer
was read encouraging a wider varie-
ty of names and pronouns for God.

faith; through her life and with her

Rev. Roger Mason Sunday morning
spoke from Esther 4:6-17, where
Esther, a Jew, the queen of the Per-
sian king Xerxes, was asked to plead
for the lives of her people. In verse 14
Esther's uncle Mordecai explained to
her she was the only one who could go
to the. king for the Jew's protection.
The king's chief prince had arranged
for the Jews to be destroyed on a cer-
tain day in a Persian decree that
could not be altered. Esther's uncle
Mordecai stressed to her God would
prevent this in some way if she fail-
ed to act, but she would not be
spared. But he explained to her God
desired to use her.
God has a great design and purpose
for each believer. Evangelism is
God's fixed purpose to win the lost.
Christians can choose to be used as an
agent for God for good, or be passed
by. 1f a Christian chooses not to act
for God, God will pass him over and
find someone else.
Sunday evening Rev. Roger Mason
spoke from Ephesians 6:10.13. Rev.
Mason aid his name Roger meant to
be strong, as verse 10 encourages. A
Christian becomes a soldier in a
spiritual battle against satan. Prayer
and the word of God are a Christian's
greatest weapons. The spiritual hat-
tle is against (he well organized wick-
ed st•iritual forces led by satan.
Unless a Christian has on spiritual ar-
mor he can be overcome in this dead-
ly battle.
Verse i0 says to be strong in the
Lord` A Christian cannot fight this
spiritual battle alone, but he needs the
continuing operation power of God.
Apart from Christ a believer can do
nothing, as Jesus said in John 15:5.
