One of the biggest pro- blems the coaches have had in the past was parent support at their games. Not so bad when they are cute but once their voices change and hair grows on their faces things seem to change. Soccer always has had to compete with the summer weather, the golf outings and dad or mom's trip to the plate to strike out again and of course don't forget there is no M.H.L. for those kids to play in. Fan support is a reason that we have lost coaches in the past. You can only fit so many kids in one car. Some parents feel that a trip to the rec cen- tre is the only effort they have to make to get their child to the game. Well my reason for writing is total- ly opposite to the statements I have made above. As coach of the Exeter bantams (15 and 16 year old boys and girls) have finished our season on Saturday in Strathroy. We played 10 away games with distances ranging from 30 miles to 65 miles one way. A game in Wallacetown would get us home by about 10:30 p.m. When the season started I was a lit- tle worried going that far and find room for 18 kids in cars. Wel11I should have known better having been in- volved with most of these parents before. Their support this past season has been just fantastic and it has reflected in the attitude of my players. It has been a joy for me to be involved with these kids and I say to their parents thank you and congratulations on raising these kids as well as you have.
