IRVIN RADER Two busloads of teenagers, children, parents and adults travell- ed to Canada's Wonderland Saturday and heard the Gospel Music Festival. The singing groups, Canada's Galileans, Chrystalaires, Elliott Family, Graham Sisters, Proverbs, Reunion, Sellwoods, Viscounts and from Kitchener The Watchmen. The open air theatre held 1500 and there were people sitting on the hills surrounding the area. It was an in- spirational experience. One part that impressed the writer's mind was, Why encourage someone? We all need encourage- ment from time to time. It doesn't cost us a cent to encourage some one, yet it can certainly give that person a special lift for the day. I don't mean just "buttering somebody up", I'm talking about actually trying to help people who are going through good times as well as bad and letting them know that we along with them have experienced -their joy and sorrow. There is a very delicate balance GRADUATES— Shown McComb, son of Donald and Aleda McComb, Elginfield graduated on May 18, 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He was president of U.W. Madison Animal Sciences Club, an active member of Delta Theta Sigma o professional agriculture fraternity, 1986 general manager of Wisconsin Little International Livestock Show, received the J.G. Fuller award for leadership and academic performance con- tributing to campus life. Present- ly pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Agriculture Economics with interest in International Marketing at University of Wisconsin, Madison, U.S.A. Dashwood man attends program Henry Vander Burgt, RR 1 Dashwood, was among the 30 people aged 18 to 21 from across Ontaric chosen to attend the annual week-long UCO leadership conference held at Geneva Park near Orlilia in August. The main focus of this year's con• ference was a number of workshops and seminars on effective com-: munication to enable young adults to learn how they react in various situa- tions and how to solve difficulties they might have in their personal relationships. John Tomkow, Toronto was the trainer. He had four years training in the Prairie Bible Institute and several years experience in ministry. Mrs. Syd Neeb, chairlady, opened with a poem "Goodness and Kindness". Mrs. Alden Wolfe read the scripture. A reading of prayer and faith was shared with the group by Mrs. Edith Baker. Sweet Hour of Prayer was sung by Mrs. Syd Neeb with Mrs. Alice Tieman accompany- ing on the piano. Mrs. Maida Gaiser presided for the business. Reports and cor- respondence was read and filed. The church will host the Huron -Perth Presbytery meeting September 23. London Conference United Church Women will hold a one day event at Pearce William Christian Centre, RR held in Crediton United Church, 1 Fingal, October 6. September 29 with Dashwood and South Huron Fall Regional will be Zurich taking part in the devotions. The Sunshine Committee will be Mrs. Eben Weigand and Mrs. Alice Tiernan.
