"Appreciation"was the theme for
a party, when 140 neighbours from the
Clandeboye area gathered • at the
farm home of Aggie and Pete
Groenewegen Sunday afternoon, to
honour Barbara Carter and say
"thank you" for all her deeds of kind-
ness, in the store and community,
during the past 25 years.
The party was a complete surprise
for Barb as she and Clarence, who
were out for. a drive in their Jeepster
convertible, dropped in to see what all
the excitement was at the
Groenewegen farm. A large sign
above the garage door reading,
"Thank you, Barb", soon informed
them.
Lucille Blake composed and read a
very suitable poem and Ruth Hill, on
behalf of the community presented
rbara with a beautiful chime wall
clock and to Clarence, a wooden
model of a 1933 Packard car. Both
made suitable thank you speeches,
Clarence telling a few stories along
with 11
A bountiful buffet pot luck supper
followed the presentation and it being
such a beautiful warm sunny day,
everyone sat around picnic tables or
in lawn chairs and enjoyed a wonder-
ful visit together, and were reluctant
to leave.
Appreciation., is also extended to
the Groenewegens for the lovely park-
like setting at their farm home which
helped to make the day, a good
neighbour day, a special day to
remember.

read by Lucile Blake:

To tell a lady we care that she

For 25 years she ran the general)

She bore her children and raised a

Health wise she was very'smart to

And cut her work load down a bit.

Barbara's big project, was getting the
street lights in town,
Which everyone enjoys from here and
around.
Barbara has always been a busy gal,
But that didn't keep her from being
everyone's pal.
For community showers she saved us
many steps, trips and more,
By collecting money at the store.
At times of bereavement Barbara
took the lead,
Collected, bought flowers and
delivered them with adequate
speed.
We took advantage of your hospitable
way,
We appreciate you Barbara lots more
than we say,.
There's only one Clarence, which is
a shame,
But do you think the town could take
two the same?
His responsibilities are of a different
kind,
He goes out on weekends, just to
unwind.
We salute both Clarence and Barbara
today,
They were married 31 years last
Wednesday.
