Sunday School and church service will commence on Sunday, §eptember 7 at 11:15 a.m. The September meeting of the United Church Women will com- mence with a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. on September 8 in the church basement. Our next stop was at Tillsonburg where we visited the Coyle factory outlet. Our last stop was in London for supper, then home to Granton. All seemed to enjoy their trip. Personals The Rev. Bruce Pierce and Mrs. Pierce have returned home from a holiday in British Columbia where they visited Expo and also the Western provinces. Mr. and Mrs. John Armstrong from Pinalis Park, Florida are spending the summer at their apartment in London. Mrs. Armstrong spent Thurs- day with Mrs. Elmer Summers. There were no church services at either the Anglican or United Chur- ches on Sunday. Early service for Saintsbury By MRS. HEBER DAVIS Rev. Courtney MacGillivray was a lunch guest with her great- grandmother Mary Davis, Monday and the latter was a dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall and Marylou. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Davis. It's a brother for Crystal. Mrs. Hugh Davis entertained the Sunday school children Tuesday to the final pool party of the summer. Miss Courtney MacGillivray, Lucan visited for a few days last week with her grandparents Hugh and Hazel Davis. The Davis's attended the 40th wed- ding anniversary celebration Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Elford at Kirkton Community Centre. They were accompanied by granddaughter Crystal Davis•who was spending the weekend with them. September 3, 1986 Ctcindeboye couple "Appreciation"was the theme for a party, when 140 neighbours from the Clandeboye area gathered • at the farm home of Aggie and Pete Groenewegen Sunday afternoon, to honour Barbara Carter and say "thank you" for all her deeds of kind- ness, in the store and community, during the past 25 years. The party was a complete surprise for Barb as she and Clarence, who were out for. a drive in their Jeepster convertible, dropped in to see what all the excitement was at the Groenewegen farm. A large sign above the garage door reading, "Thank you, Barb", soon informed them. Lucille Blake composed and read a very suitable poem and Ruth Hill, on behalf of the community presented rbara with a beautiful chime wall clock and to Clarence, a wooden model of a 1933 Packard car. Both made suitable thank you speeches, Clarence telling a few stories along with 11 A bountiful buffet pot luck supper followed the presentation and it being such a beautiful warm sunny day, everyone sat around picnic tables or in lawn chairs and enjoyed a wonder- ful visit together, and were reluctant to leave. Appreciation., is also extended to the Groenewegens for the lovely park- like setting at their farm home which helped to make the day, a good neighbour day, a special day to remember. The guest speaker will be Rev. Cecil Jardine from London. Sunday school will also commence. Where, oh where has the summer gone. With the hum of school buses and children back to school it seems the holidays have gone quickly. Bonnie Kooy left for Sarnia Monday where she will attend Lambton Col- lege and study Early Childhood Education. Good luck Bonnie. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mills have returned from their holidays. SUMMERS The Granton Women's Institute took a bus tour on August 25 arrang- ed by Mrs. Clarence Lewis. The first stop was at St. Williams where we were shown a film showing the planting of trees and the machinery used to do this. IRVIN RADER Ten people from Dashwood were on a Mystery Tour with Murphy bus last Wednesday. A boat trip from Sarnia south for two hours was most en- joyable. A visit to the Museum and Glass Factory at Wallaceburg was in- teresting. Dinner at the Town and Country club outside of Forest round- ed up the day. People from Exeter, Zurich, Dashwood, Grand Bend and Port Franks were on the bus trip. Doug and Nancy Nutt, Paul and Rachael vacationed last week at Parry Sound and Sudbury Bob and Gloria Hayter hosted a Hayter reunion Sunday for the Bob and Bertha Hayter families. Those at- tending came from Montreal, Brant- ford, Toronto, Mississauga, Goderich, Detroit, Dashwood and Grand Bend. The meals were delicious. Games were held for the children and the adults. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Robin were Monday guests with Mary Rader.
