Bowling On Thursday evening the ladies bowling league with the executive team the Red Devils, held an organization meeting at the bowling alley and decided to begin the season on Monday, September 8. At last year's great Battle of the Bean, which pitted the local product against the entrenched Boston bean, the Zurich Bean Festival's baked beans won a unanimous decision as the better beans in a blindfold taste test filmed by Alan Edmonds and (TV's Live 11 Up crew and later televised across Canada. Volunteers who serve on the Bean Festival committee now have the art of cooking delicious baked beans down to a science. The process of soaking, cooking, cooling. reseason- ing and reheating begins early in the week.
