Stonetown goes the Royals allowing five hits while Game three saw Stonetown open on to play either Palmerston or Belmore. Royals lost their final regular season game 6-3 to Nairn to finish the schedule with 13 wins and 11 losses. The playoffs will probably start next Sunday night in Exeter against either Nairn or Lucan.White Sox. Nairn opened the scoring with a run in the first, two in the second and three in the fourth to open up a 6-0 lead. The Royals scored three runs in the sixth as Mike Desjardine singled, Jeff Lindenfield singled, Pete. Tuckey reached on an error and John Kernick tripled. Scott Brintnell took the loss with Brian Hodgins in relief while Er- nie Schlegal got the win for Nairn. Coach Fred Coob feels that the're- cent series with Stonetown should help them immensely in the playoffs as they were forced to play an ex- cellent brand of ball. Fan support is essential to help the team. It was shown in St. Marys as Stonetown drew 200-300 fans to each game on Friday and Saturday. Granton 1 By MRS. E. SUMMERS The sixth and final meeting of the Granton 4-H club Greenthumbs was held on August 9 at the home of Eleanora Kop. We opened the meeting answering the roll call which was to show a jar of pickles that we had made. We read on through our booklets on how to harvest vegetables. We then judged some carrots in these four characteristics: uniformi- ty, conditions, form and colour, and size. Judging was informative and fun. We then read our home activities which are to finish our books and any project requirements. We then clos- ed our meeting after a snack with the 4-H motto. Thanks to Eleanora for holding the meeting. After the meeting we prepared for Granton Fun Day. We had a float in the parade entitled Bug Busters. We 4•H club all had worked long and hard on the float; it was also a lot of fun. We would like to thank Mavis Harm- sworth for leading the gardening club. Pam Waters Church news At the St. Thomas Anglican Church Granton, the Rev. F.
