T -A photo Ironwood ladies The first week of playoffs started Wednesday evening for the Ironwood ladies golf club. The night was spon- sored by A&H Food Market. Many good scores were recorded with Marlene Parsons posting a 43 and Janet Wedlake close behind with a 44. Maria Ryder, Jean Little, Phyllis Hayman and Bonnie Ross were awarded prizes for hidden boles. Lowest putts were recorded by Barb Dietrich and Lorna Russell. Skins winning for the event were given to Marlene Parsons. Next week will be sponsored by Massey Ferguson. T -A photo Playground over dor 1986 season Playground is now over and we would like to wish all playground members a happy school year. We would also like to thank everyone for their participation in this year's program. Thanks are in order for Dave Shaw for coming out and entertaining the playground, Martial Arts for demonstrating their skills for all and to the police station Chief Hardy and Sergeant Short for their help in the July 17 bike rodeo. Thanks to Save -U -Gas Bar for the Bingo bongo at Exeter club August 12 was a sunny day and Ex- eter Golf Club ladies played the bingo bango bongo game. There was an ex- cellent turnout. Winners of the bingo bango bongo point were Helen Wasnidge, Barb Harrison, Wyn Galloway and Eileen 'tannic. Best game was Dorothy Kipfer, followed closely by Ifeipp Wasnidge. In addition to friendly competition, the games are designed to promote socialisation and increas- ed physical activity among seniors. Individual districts held their own games across Ontario throughout the summer months. In this area (district 29), which encompasses Huron, Perth and Middlesex counties, the games were held in meter, in June with more than =seniors participating. Winners from these games will now go on to ACTIFEST '88 in Kitchener on August 28 and 27 where eight playoff events will take place. District 29 will be sending 32 par- ticipants all together, accompanied by .12 guests. Four seniors will par- ticipate in Carpet Bowling, in crib- bage, two in darts, four will play euchre, two teams of five will com- pete in five -plop bolwing, six men and women in golf, four are playing shuf- fleboard, and two will compete in Snooker. Representing District 29, from Ex- eter, are Lorne Marshall and Mar- shall Dearing who are one of the en- tries in the shuffleboard competition. SHUFFLEBOARD Marshall Dearing with a score of 400 led the male competitors in Wednesday's regular shuffleboard play at the South Huron Rec Centre. He was followed by Albert Hummell 397 and Steve Hrapchak 384. Pearl McKnight was best for the ladies with a score of 300. Next came Blanche Johns 292 and Mabel McKnight 283.
