. Four-year-old Correy Nicholson, of
Courtright, spent a few holdiays with
his great aunt and uncle, Dorothy and
Lorne Fenner. Dinner guests last Sun-
day with the Fenners were Don and
Mabel Fraser, and Clyde and Evelyn
Nicholson.
Ken and Ortha Baker, visited Sun-
day evening with his sister, Loraine
and Roland Neil, at Ailsa Craig.
Hugh and I, accompanied by Les
and Marjorie Adams, of Exeter,
visited Sunday afternoon with Ernie
and Ann Morenz, at their summer

The T -ball wind up party was held
Wednesday night at Bonnie and Mike
Erickson's home. The children had a
swim in the pool, followed by hot dogs
and ice cream for lunch. Ron and
Joanne Pickering were their coaches
and they wish to thank their team for
presenting them with T shirts.
The mites baseball team had their
end of moan party at Joan and Scott
Sweitzers. The children had a swim
in the pool, games, hot dogs and cake
and ice cream for lunch. The mites
coaches were Pat O'Rourke and Joan
Sweitzer. The children and, coaches
received trophies.

they visited.

Tourney action
Ausable soccer successful
July 26 and 27, the Ausable Soccer
League held its first annual full team
senior soccer tournament.
It was a great success with even the
weather co-operating very well. With
the showers Friday night, the pitch
was in excellent shape for the first
game at 10:00 Saturday morning.
The tournament consisted of two
division made up of three teams
apiece. First division was made up of
teams from Exeter, Grand _ Bend,
Real West (London) and the second

A summer weekend of A.T.V.
Supercross racing blasts off next
Saturday night at Western
Fairgrounds kicking off two days of
A.T.V. Supercross racing, the wildest
motorsport racing to hit North
America yet.
The London International A.T.V.
Supercross will have top Ontario
A.T.V. riders, plus expert racers from
Quebec and the United States. Riders
will be coming to London to compete
for a purse of over $2,500.00. Added
bonuses for the riders include con-
tingency prizes from the A.T.V.
manufacturers.
The track will be constructed on the
racetrack as well as the infield com-
plete with double jumps, berms, stut-
ter bumps and tight hairpin corners.
Spectators will be entertained by
some of the best A.T.V. racing to be
seen anywhere.

McQregor in the 200 stock class rac-
ing from Kippen!
Shuffleboard -
Another good turnout enjoyed
Wednesday's regular suffleboard ac-
tivities at the South Huron Rec
Centre.
Pearl McKnight was best for the
ladies with a score of 434. Next came
Jean ,Johns 405 and Grace Chapman
382.
Top score for the men of 440 was
compiled by Laverne Stone. He was
followed by Charlie Tindall 427 and
Howard Johns 407.
division consisted of Nairn and two
teams from Stratford, they being
Stratford Hotel and Harloff Paving.
The top two teams from each divi-
sion, decided by a round robin,
squared off for the A trophy. This
trophywas donated by RSDSport Den.
In the A final, Harloff Paving
defeated Real West by a score of 2 to
nil.
The B trophy donated by
MacLeans Sports, was decided by
Grand Bend defeating Stratford Hotel
2 to nil in a very hard fought match.
The C trophy was awarded to
Nairn, who capitalized on Exeter's in-
ability to put the ball in the net dur-
ing the whole tournament. Nairn won
on extra penalty shots as both Exeter
and Nairn ended tied after five penal-
ty shots each.

With just three games left for each
team in the Lucan men's Slo-pitch
league this season, definite positions
have developed in the league. Deb-
bie's Kitchen are in solid first place
and need only a win in their remain-
ing games to clinch the top position.
However, second, third and fourth
position are up for grabs as Toohey's
Tigers, Town Criers and Jungle Joose
Jets are fighting it out respectively
for these spots.
. The Grand Central Hotel have fifth
spot locked up and the Lucan Lions-
bring
ions
bring up the sixth and final spot in the
league.
Please don't forget to come on out
and cheer on your favourite players
at the Wean Rec League as they form
an all-star team to tangle an all-star
team from Crediton. The game is set
for 8 p.m. Friday, August 15 in Lucan.

Business bowling
tourney held
The Exeter lawn bowling club held
its annual Business and Bankers tour-
nament for men's pairs, Wednesday.
Sponsors who helped make this a
success were Bank of Nova Scotia,
Bank of Montreal, Credit Union,
Royal Bank, Canadian Canners, Darl-
ings IGA, and Veals Meat Market.
Teams participated from London,
Ingersoll, Forest, Seaforth, Clinton,
Mitchell, Lucknow, Goderich, Strat-
ford and Exeter.

been leading the way on his Honda 125

celebrated their 40th wedding an-
niversary at the hall in Dashwood
Saturday evening. Guests were pre-
sent from Boston, . Massachusetts,
Calgary, Kingston, Toronto,
Michigan, Gravenhurst, Stratford,
London, Guelph, Grand Bend, Zurich
and Dashwood. Dancing was held
followed by a delicious lunch. A good
time was had by all.
Lorne Miller is a patient in Univer-
sity Hospital, London.
Tracey Wolfe and Jennifer Millson,
London, spent the weekend with Mrs.

At the St. Thomas Anglican Church,
the Rev. F. Braby of Stratford was in
charge of the service and based his
sermon on the ministry of Jesus
Christ when he was on earth and on
the tranfiguration.
The service at St. Thomas will be
held next Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev.
Braby will take the service.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the
family'of the late Mrs. Ruth Ernst of
Wayne Michigan, who passed -away
August 7. The late Mrs. Ernst was a
sister of Mrs. Robert Hardie of.

The Village of Granton was very
fortunate to have such nice weather
forit heir annual fun day celebrations
on Saturday. There had been a lot of
