Best performances at
Ironwood this year
The holiday weekend must have
provided several of Ironwood men's
golf members an important oppor-
tunity to fine tune their games, as
club competition Tuesday evening
was marked by some best individual
performances of the season.
Dave Holtzmann shot 36 to narrow-
ly maintain his winning streak in "A"
flight in low gross on countback from
an unlucky Randy Evans. Close were
Don Gifford and Jack Fuller at 37,
with Fuller winning divisional low
net at 31. Randy Evans teas again
relegated to runnerup at net 32, one
stroke better than Don Gifford.
"B" flight was won with a four over
par card of 39 by Norm Whiting on
countback from Bill Gilfillan. It
seems likely that Norm will soon
jurnp to "A" flight from his season
beginning in ''C" flight.

Russell, Brad Darters and Paul Char-
rette, posted 40 in this hotly contested
division.
Bill Gilfillan was victorious in "B"
flight low net with 30, just beyond
Brad Daters net 32 and Paul Char-
rette at 33.
Blair Hearn won "C" flight low
gross on countback from an equally
fine score of 41 shot by John Gray.
John Maurer was third at 43. John
Gray rightly deserved honours as net
winner in this division, but only one
stroke separated him from a season
best net 29 shot by Don Jolty. John
Maurer was again bridesmaid at net
31.
The "D" flight, Bill Montgomery
finally found his winning form by tur-
ning in a 46. Runnerup was Jan
VanHaarlem at 47 on countback from
Wilmer Ferguson. In the net
category, Wilmer Ferguson reversed
the order and at net 29 beat Jan by
two strokes.
Wayne Pearce and Don Gifford won
closest to the pin contests on hole
numbers two and nine respectively.
In the continuing "skins" competi-
tion Jack Fuller triumphed in steal-
ing this week's big prize with his lone
birdie on hole number eight.
