The next outing for the Stingers will be Sunday at 4 p.m. with Byron sup- plying the opposition. The only game between these two teams this season ended in a 44 tie. In the win over Ilderton, Carol Windsor on the mound for the Stingers allowed only three base run- ners until the sixth inning when the opposition scored both runs. She recorded 13 strikeouts over the seven inning route. Carol Beach singled and scored the first Huron Park run in the opening inning and a big three run fourth inn- ing rally was sparked by hits from the bats of Willie Dimmers and Donna Glanville. • The final score for the Stingers came in the fifth frame as Nancy Ogg • singled and came around to score on a walk and groundout from the bat of Willie Dimmers. Carol Windsor was again the winn- ing hurler as the Stingers edged Strathroy 4-3. This time she fanned nine batters. The first two Stinger runs came around in the third whenLauraLee Nickles, Janice Capitano and Willie Dimmers banged out basehits and Carol Windsor walked. In the Huron Park fourth, Barb Swartz singled and Debbie McNaughton tripled and both scored. Carol Windsor tossed the first five innings in the latest win over Oneida and Lina McConnell came on to in relief to retire the last six batters in order. Chris Beach and Heather Smith contributed base hits and scored in the first inning. In the third Donan Glanville reached first with a hit and came around to score as did Willie Dimmers in the fourth with the run batted in credited to Donna Glanville. A big fifth inning rally which pro- duced six runs was powered by hits from the bats of Janice Capitano, Carol Windsor, Sherry Nickles and Donna Glanville. In the Stingers sixth, Janice Capitano walked and scored on hits by Carol Windsor, Willie Dimmers and Lina McConnell. SHIPKA ROOKIES WIN — slopitch tourney. Surprisingly, no countback was necessary to decide first place as the foursome of Randy Gilfillan (cap- tain). Doug Brooks. Don Gifford.and Bill Steele stole the show with a three under par score of 32. The team of captain Jon Dinncy, Will Chisholm, Jim Campbell, and Doug Ellison was close at 33. Third place honours went to captain Dennis Rowe, Arnold Mothers. Al Taylor. and Dan Heywood at 34 on countback from the early favourites of Boltzmann Sr. Boltzmann .Jr, Bob Fletcher and Gord Ross also in at 34. Man with fishing pole to wife rowing boat: "Isn't this better than giving the reducing salon all that money?" 4 A&f Co-ops lose to Express with respectable effort In their only start this week in the Great Lakes -Western Ontario -London senior baseball league, the Exeter Co - Op juniors dropped a 7-3 decision to the Exeter senior Express. Considering the Express are the best team in the league, the juniors turned in a respectable effort. In the juniors first, Steve Merner and Doug Schade walked and the former scored on a single by Kevin Drager. Doug Schade singled and Kevin Drager reached base in the fifth and scored on a triple from the bat of Dave Akey. For the Express, Brian Mercer scored in the opening frame and Paul, Gilmour counted in the fourth. Dave Shaw slammed a home run to; lead off the Express fifth and in the sixth Jeff Fuller doubled and -came home on a Greg Hern sacrifice. A Paul Gilmour double and single' from Brian Mercer and Walt Parkin- son produced the final two Express) runs in the seventh. Dave Atthill was the winning pit 3 cher for the Express while Kevin' Drager and Scott Miller shared duties for the juniors. Dick Kloss, Raquel Bunn and Mike Holmes of Brucefield and Chris Har- burn of Walton qualified for the na- tional competition at the provincial competition held in Lindsay, Ontario on July 18 to 20. In that provincial competition Rene Boogemans of Hensel], and Rick Kloss of Clinton took a bronze medal in the senior mens competition. Dick Kloss teamed with Ray Healy, of Cameron, to take a gold in the masters men. Mike Holmes and Chris Harburn took gold in the Junior mens. Raquel Bunn and Barb Hawkins, of Chatham took gold in the junior women. Raquel Bunn and Mike Holmes teamed up for gold in the Junior mixed while Chris Harburn and Erica Langpeter, of Windsor took silver and Kelli Rathwell, of Brucefield and Scott Rathwell of Var- na took silver in the bantam category. The Nationals take place August 15 to 17. Good crowd play shuffle A large number of competitors were in shuffleboard action Wednes- day at the South Huron Rec Centre.
