HUGH MORENZ Shipko Don and Mabel (Guenther) Fraser, have returned home after a three week honeymoon trip to the Eastern Provinces. They toured Upper Canada Village near Kingston, and spent the July 1 holiday enjoying the ceremonies and fireworks at the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Next they toured Quebec City and spent a weekend with Don's son and family in Amherst, Nova Scotia, spent two days in Charlottetown P.E.I., travelling around the Cabot Trail to Cape Breton Island, Halifax and Peggy's Cove. They enjoyed a beautiful scenic trip home by way of New Hampshire, Ver- mont and New York state. They had several boat trips on their holiday but the most memorable was the one from Port Aux Basque,Newfoundland to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. On the new M.V. Caribou boat, car- rying about 1,200 people, a hydraulic malfunction caused an upper ramp to come crashing down to the lower deck. All were stranded on the boat for 24 hours after waiting six hours to board it. No one was injured. This was an 4-H Meeting Meeting four of Grand Bend two 41 club was held at Brenda Love's on Ju- ly 21. Bonnie Hotson hada quiz on the project, "Seeds to Shelf". They talk- ed about methods of preserving vegetables and fruit and how to select them, how to freeze properly and about dehydration. They prepared dried chives and froze yellow butter beans. They learn- ed about putting insect powder on cabbages. Meeting closed at 8:30, Next meeting will be August 11. Sports The Shipka T -ball team played a game Tuesday night July 22, with Port Franks the winners by a score of 45 to 32. Tony Riley, Stephanie Coek and Jason Erickson all played a very good game for the Shipka team. --experience they will never forget,, brit they made many new friends in Canada and the United States. Skins were won by Nancy Quinn on number four and Hazel Beaver on five. Nearest to the Pin on four was also won by Nancy Quinn. Longest drive on one was won by Marlene Parsons Pee wees get pair of wins The Exeter Pee wees chalked up a pair of victories on the baseball field this week defeating Lucan by a 13-9 score and Goderich 12-7. In the win over Lucan, Jason Heywood walked to start the Exeter second inning and came around to count as Derek VanDyken and Brian McInnes walked and Fred Steciuk singled. in the fourth Heywood again walk- ed and scored without the aid of a hit. Eight Exeter runs crossed the plate in the fifth frame to ensure the win. The rally was helped by six walks from the Lucan pitchers and singles from the bats of Jim Ahrens, David Schwind( and Mike Kingma. One base blows banged out by Fred Steciuk, Brian Acetones and Mike Kingma helped produce the final three Exeter runs in bottom of •the sixth. The big blow for the Lucan youngsters was a seventh inning home run from the bat of Jeremy Jemec. David Schwind( was the winning pitcher for Exeter. in Monday's victory over Goderich. Jim Ahrens and David Schwindt shared Exeter's pitching duties. The Exeter club got off to a fast start offensively with six runs in the first inning. Steve Dubarry and Ryan Lindenfield walked, David Schwind) doubled, Jason Heywood drew a walk and Jamie Cornish and Mike Kingma folhved with singles to produce the half dozen markers. in the Exeter third, Derek Van Dyken walked, stufp; second and scored on Nils by 1100.1,indenfield and•Mark Russell .Tim Ahrens doubled in the fourth and scored on a hit by Cornish. The final fot- runs came in the seventh as urian McInnes, Steve Duharry and Ryan 1,indenfield walk- ed and David Schwind( tripled. 4 and on five by Audrey Joynt. In A -flight, first low gross was Audrey Joynt with 44 followed by Anita Cook with 46. First low net was won by Grace Farquahar with 32 followed by Marlene Parsons with 34. Lowest putts in A -flight was also Grace Far- quahar with 14. In B flight, Nancy Charette won low gross easily with a 49 followed by Carolyn Gilfillan and Linda Steele with 51, Helen Webber 52, Kim Pender 54 and Grace Drummond 55. Ruth Mercer won lowest putts in B flight with 18. In (' flight, first low gross went to Cathy Cronyn and Betty Coates with 60 followed by Fran Mickle with 61, Edith Boyle and Janie mcDowell with 62 and Elaine Sk!nner 64. Lowest putts prize went to Mary .lane Taylor with 17 while most putts prize went to Diane Eagleson. Area bowlers tops in tourney howlers from the Exeter and area clubs were the top winners in a recent mixed pairs lawn howling tourna- ment at the Exeter greens sponsored by National Victoria and Grey Tritst. Bill and Isabel Rogerson of Hensall, regulars in the Exeter club won first prize with three wins and a score of :37. Second prize went to Art Finlayson and partner and Ernie mid Olga Chip - chase were fourth with two victories and 37. in zone playdowns held recently in Brantford. the Exeter Colts team comprising Jason McFalls, Marshall Dearing and litter McFalls were eliminated from future competition. They carne up with a loss to Woodsto, k, a tie with Windsor and a win over London, but. the record was good enough for only a tie for second place. SHUFREBOARD ‘1'e(11esday's regular shiifflelxiard play at the South Huron Hee Centre attracted a good number of entrants. John Pepper was the highest six game winner with a score of 381. He was followed by Ray Cottle :362 and Pearl McKnight :358. The top five 'game winner with a score of 391 was Ernie ('hilxhase. Next came Marshall Dearing 345 and Olga ('hipchase 331. The annual Harlton reunion was held earlier this month on July 13 at Brigden with about 50 in attendance. Relatives attended from London, Courtright, Granton, Shipka and Brantford, plus eleven new cousins from Inkster, Michigan, which all were pleased to meet for the first time.
