Dear Bill,
As you know, I have written a song
about our town and the unique attrac-
tion of our white squirrels. The pro-
ject has been designed to accomplish
a number of worthwhile results
among which are the following: a
tangible product (records and tapes)
which would promote our communi-
ty; another method to stimulate in-
terest -from others toward Exeter as
a possible site for future commercial,
industrial, or residential development
by means of the information about
Exeter and area outlined in the nar-
rated promotion on the flip side of the
record; and, perhaps most important
of all, a fresh way of stating what
most of our citizens have known and
felt for generations ... how good it is
to live in Exeter.
The financial support for this pro-
ject has come in the form of invest-
ment rather than outright donation.
All monies realized by the sale of the
recording will be returned to the in-
vestors in the same percentage as
their contribution. Depending on the
success of the record, the investor
may see anywhere from 50 - 150 per-
cent return on the initial investment,
as well as benefit from the advertis-
ing printed on the record sleeve or
cassette case.
Moreover, the sponsors gain the
satisfaction of having participated in
a spirit -lifting venture.
Therefore, I would like to take this
opportunity to express my apprecia-
tion to a number of very special peo-
ple in our town: all the businesses,
groups, associations, and individuals
who have supported this project by
financial investment or by providing
a service; all the supportive citizens
of Exeter who braved the inclement
weather last Firday night and held on
until it became clear that the concert
was rained out; and especially a
group of young men who are not only
superb musicians but are gentlemen
in every way, my very good friends,
Tony, Drew, Burke, and Darren.
Due to this co-operative communi-
ty enthusiasm, the song is presently
at the recording studio stage and we
anticipate a completion date of late
summer. We have rescheduled our
concert in conjunction with the Jug
Band whose assistance we appreciate
greatly. The concert is now set for
August 22. Watch for more details in
upcoming weeks.
We will also be making ar-
rangements to perform at the Exeter
Fall Fair in September and have the

Mrs. Emma Passmore will
celebrate her 100th birthday on
August 11. 1986. A reception honoring
this joyous occasion will be held for
family and friends in the Activity
Room, Ottawa East Villa Nursing

from 2 - 4 p.m.
Mrs. Passmore was born in
Usborne township, the daughter of
Mrs. Emma G. Passmore
John and Matilda Peart. February 2,
1916 she married Norman Passmore
and lived on the Passmore farm on
Thames Road.
In the mid -1840's they moved to Ex-
eter where they lived until 1968 at
which time they moved to Ottawa
where an only son, Russell, resides.
Her husband, Norman, passed away
• in 1976. She then resided with her son
and his family until 1981. '
Mrs. Passmore is now a resident of
West End Villa Nursing home, and is
• confined to a wheel -chair. Other than
her inability to get around she is in
good health. enjoys the various ac-
tivities of the.nursing home and still
crochets every day, watches TV and
fondly remembers her relatives and
friends in Exeter area.
She enjoys visits from six grand-
children and five great granchildren,
all of whom are expected to par-
ticipate in birthday celebrations, ar-

and Digby, Nova Scotia for the event.
wish to ensure a copy for themselves
as quantities are limited.
Finally, to all who had hoped to
hear the debut of our song last Friday
night, the demo tape from the studio
will be ready in a few days and will
ter spent oning a recycling
depot. I'm a* there a demand and
a need. Local residents could sort and
label their garbage - paper - glass -
metal.
Or maybe residents would even
be played publicly at various times _ consider delivering their own
recyclable garbage to a depot where
some company in the recycling
business could come and get it. For
example - just think of all the pop cans
crushed on the road - most of them
say "made of recyclable steel". With
this heat, there are probably millions°
of thenrgoing to the dump.
Why - the town might even make
some money on it - if they tried
something positive instead of worry-
ing about who sets their garbage out
* * * • for 24 hours and one minute!
Yours truly.

the month of August. Also, to those
who aren't aware of the name of our
band it is ... "Peter Snell and the
Hometown Gentlemen." Again, a
sincere thank you to all who have en-
dorsed this project, and I trust that
our new Exeter song, "White

us all.
