STAN PRESZCATOR Glanville reunion The 34th annual Glanville reunion was held Sunday, July 13 -at Seaforth Lions Park with 105 in attendance. The day started out with a ball game. Asmorgasbord supper was en- joyed by all which was delicious. Grace was said by Richard Haist. Secretary was Lorna Finkbeiner and president Roy Glanville. Presi- dent for next year is Gordon Miller, vice president is Lorne Glanville, secretary -treasurer is Mable Glan- ville and Sports Betty Glanville. The 1987 reunion is to be held the se- cond Sunday in July at the same place. Ball game is to start at 2:30 and children's games at 4 p.m. with sup- per to follow. After supper sports were conducted by Betty Glanville. Suzanne Fink- beiner and Walter Riddle guessed the watermelon which was 521/2 lbs. Christian Goodall guessed the nuts in the jar of 50 and Jenna Barnes guessed at 49 there were 51 nuts. Youngest baby boy Danny Shapton, four months, youngest baby girl Dianne Shapton 20 months. Bowling game age one to five, first Amy McDougall, tied for second Jason Glanville and Melissa Glanville. Boys six to nine wheelbarrow race: Jeremy Bissonnette and Paul GlAn- ville. Boys against girls coverall and balloon race. Girls won - Veronica Glanville, Sherri Miller, Darlene Glanville and Laurie Parker. Girls six to nine wheelbarrow race - Karen Bissonnette and Holly Goodall. Adult gift unwrap - Marlene Novack and Richard Horst. Nail hammer - ladies high Marlene Novack, low Karlene Glanville, mens low Ken Glanville, high Amos Goodall. Girls 12 to 15 low Veronica Glan- ville, high Barbara Glanville. The kids had a candy scramble. Personals Mrs. Greta Beaver is recuperating from an accident last week, all her friends and neighbours wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Preszcator spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum, RR 1 Walton. Mrs. Jeanette Lippert and Ted Wales returned home Friday from a three week vacation out west where they visited with family. They also at- tended the Calgary Stampede. Welcome back Ted and Jeanette. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Browning Sr. and families returned home from vacationing in Kenora. Contestants are needed for the Summerfest Princesses ages 13-18. Contact Linda Finkbeiner at home or at ball park after 7 p.m. The sermon topic at Zion United Church was taken from Psalms 111 and John 3:1-18 titled "Christianity, What Is It?” Ross Pickering and Howard Hen- drick led in the first part of the ser- vice and Wayne King did the sermon. Members were presented with cor- sages and after dinner proceeded to the home of Maud Hoffman. During the evening club members enjoyed reminiscing of old times, remember- ing farmer members and looking back with many fond memories of happy hours spent together. A mo- ment of silence was observed in honor of the beloved founder, the late Mrs. Letta Taylor. ' Members have met weekly at each ones home from October to May each year. Through the years they have su rted various charities, con: - tri ' ted to building the Dashwood Community Centre and their one main project - the War Memorial Children's Hospital, London, having furnished a room in the hospital and yearly contributed. The club in the years have marked their 25th anniversary, their 50th an- niversary and on those two occasions entertained all former members who had moved away. They came from many far away places to celebrate with us. Mrs. Taylor started another unique happy event, when she reached hler Golden Age Pension she entertained the club by taking all out to dinner, and each member has done so since. This year we have already had one dinner party and ale looking forward to another party in the fall. A very pleasant evening was spent playing Bridge with prizes going to Dorothy Rader, high and Edith Baker, low, prizes being a keep sake of Mrs. Letta Taylor's. The happy oc- casion concluded with anniversary cake decorated with replica of cards and all thankful for what the S & C ,L'Ibb has meant to us down through the years. The Club's 10 members of many years have a total of approximately 450 years of happy years together. Mary Rader accompanied by Fred, June and Karen Miller of Zion flew from London airport to Winnipeg where they rented a car to go to Lac du Bonnet for the wedding of my granddaughter and their niece, Shelley Anne Howe to David Nicker- son. Both are photographic techni- cians in the air force at Greenwood, Nova Scotia. We were also happy to see our other granddaughter, Mary - Jo and her husband Len Maillot of British Columbia. While there we visited with friends Walter and Phyllis Hapko and George and Ellen Metcalf formerly of Lon- don. We arrived home Monday after- noon. The wedding was beautiful and we met many friends who were also guests. Thea and Adriaan Moerenhout from Waihcke Island, New Zealand are visiting with relatives Mr. and Mrs. William Struyke. Stacey Thurman is visiting with her aunt Joan Coxen in Kitchener this week. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Becker have returned home following a delightful vacation. They went to Gary, Indiana where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Niksch then to Prince Albert where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Locrnere Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Becker at Roblin, Manitoba and Mr. and Mrs. Harris Simpson at Brandon, Manitoba returning home by Chicago. Mary Rader visited with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Craigweil Gardens, Ailsa Craig, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Rader and Mary Rader at - It is July 28 to August 1. (9:00 to 11:30). The theme is Sonlight Moun- tain. We are still asking for elastic bottles (Javex etc), paper egg`car- tons, old socks, (suitable for sock pup- pets), styrofoam meat trays, card boxes. Leave these if you have any in the front of the church in a box provided. Others were present from London, Kitchener, Waterloo and Stratford. Mrs. Luella Tieman underwent surgery at University hospital where she got along very well. Melvin and Gertie Stade spent a month visiting in British Columbia with friends and relatives and 4 days at Expo 86. There were great exhibits and large crowds. On the way home they motored through the Okanagan Valley and visited Pastor and Mrs. Bari at Vernon and saw their new church. Seigfried, Sheila and Heather Jo Miller and friend Jeff spent Sunday with Melvin.Gertie and Sherrie Stade.
