Times-Advocate, 1986-07-23, Page 11ACTIVITY CENTRE PARADES — Margaret Wilson, Alice Gingerich, Janet Rose, Ervin Gingerich and Evelyn McNaughton were on the Craigwiel Activity Centre float in Saturday's Ailsa Craig Gala Days parade. LegAon Nowa R. E. Pooley Branch 167 Exeter, Ontario The general meeting of R.E. Pooley Branch 167 was held in the clubroom on June 26, with 36 members present and 4 new members present for installation. Comrade elect John Brintnell was installed as president by Comrade Percy Noels and conducted to his position to chair the meeting. There were four new associate members installed to the branch by Comrade Howard Holtzmann and the installation team. They were as follows: Rick Borden, Jean Brautigam, Robert Watson, and Larry Henderson. We Tike to welcome these new associate members to the R.E. Pooley Branch 167. All pertinent minutes of previous meetings were read and adopted. The treasurer's report was presented by Comrade Glen Robinson and indicated the usual receipts and expenditures. Comrade president John Brintnell presented the committees and their chairmen. Comrade President John explained their duties and respon- sibilities and asked that any in- terested Comradli, who wanted to volunteer to bele n committees to contact the chairmen of that committee. The following committees reported: Spprts;, Comrade Bob Snow reported that he needs more par- ticipants for the July 26th Zone C1 Slow Pitch Tournament. Membership; Comrade Vera Arm - Reunion for Hodgert clan The 61st annual reunion of the Hodgert Clan was held Saturday Ju- ly 12, at the Crystal Palace in Mit- chell, with 86 registering throughout the day. The oldest person present was Mrs Whitney Coates of Exeter, and the youngest member was five month old James Smith of Sarnia. During the afternoon a full sports program was enjoyed by everyone. President Ross Hodgert welcomed everyone, noting there were visitors from as far away as Australia. Next years reunion will be held Ju- ly 11, 1987 at the Lion's Park in Mit- chell with the following Slate of Of- ficers: Honorary Pres.: Mrs Whitney Coates, Presidents: Ross and Kathleen Hodgert, Vice Presidents: Don and M a r d a Gaiser,Secretary- Treasurers: Rodger and Cathy Lux- ton, Table Committee: Alma Richard, Wilma Coates, Janet and Stephen Rice, Les and Marguerite Hart, Sports Committee: Karel, Brian, Brenda and Douglas Hodgert. strong reported there are 10 ordinary and 15 Associate memberships unpaid. Poppy; Comrade Gregg Pfaff reported that for the poppy compaign this year he would like to have a Legion member accompany each Cadet for the blitz. Comrade Gregg will be asking for volunteers at a later date. Correspondence; A letter of resignation with his regrets was ac- cepted from Comrade James Sutton as our Padre as he is moving out of Exeter. Comrade George Anderson will be acting Padre at this time. A letter 'of thank you was presented from the Ontario Lupus Association for our donation to this worthy cause. General and New Business; Com- rade Gregg Pfaff spoke on behalf of the Cadets, thanking the branch for their support and for Comrade Presi- dent John Brintnell being at their An- nual Inspection. The Cadets received a Perfection award that night for achievement of 92%. Comrade Gregg also spoke on the Cadets and their ac- tivities, training, and objectives of the Cadet Corp. From the Executive meeting, a mo- tion was made and carried to donate $2,500.00 to the Exeter Figure Skating Club.
