will be the St. Marys Area Comthuni-
ty Centre, St. Marys. Here you will
dine on a full -course roast beef din-
ner. Then sit back and enjoy the
original cast production of "Letter
from Wingfield Farm".
Wingfield Farm, a one-man show
written by Dan Needles, directed by
Doug Beattie and performed by his
multi -talented brother Rod Beattie is
just about everything a solo piece of
theatre should be.
Needles' play is based on a series
of columns he wrote in the 1970's for
the Shelbourne Free Press and
Economist about a stock -broker's
decision to become a ge*tleman.
farmer. It has been described as
"beautifully and intelligently written,
well paced and thoughtful with
enough laughs to win over an au-
dience from the opening moments."
"Letter from Wingfield Farm" is

Boat explodes
at the Bend
Provincial police are investigating
an explosion on board a motorboat
near Grand Bend Friday afternoon
that sent a Grand Bend woman and
her three children to hospital, a
Grand Bend OPP spokesman said.
Constable Al Schmidt said Ruth
Debrum, 35, and her children Milisa,
10, Sarah, 8, and Joshua, 3, were
taken to Victoria Hospital, London,
with severe burns to their legs and
arms. All were reported in fair
condition.
Schmidt said the four were injured
in an explosion and flash fire on the
boat, which was docked near Grand
Bend on the Ausable River. The ex-
plosion occurred after Debrum's hus-
band, Louis, 34, attempted to start the
engine. He received slight burns but
was not taken to hospital.
brace a less complicated world. In a
series of letters to the editor of the
Larkspur weekly newspaper, Walt
Wingfield talks about the people and
events of his first year as a man of the
soil.
When a captain of industry trades
his pinstripe suit for overalls and
retreats to a hundred acre farm, the
residents of Persophone Township
raise their eyebrows. Weekend
farmers are a common sight, but this
man seems to think he can actually
make.a living with a broken down
racehorse and a single furrow plough.
One will lose track of the number of
characters created on stage. Beattie
may be carrying on both sides of a
phone conversation, portraying
several different participants in a
late-night story -telling session or
making us believe that he really has
dogs, horses, ducks, cows and pigs on
stage. Needles' language and Beat -
tie's gestures and facial expressions
will allow the audience to "see" all
these things.
Letter from Wingfield Farm has
toured throughout Ontario including
the Great Canadain Theatre Co. in Ot-
tawa, Grand Theatre in London, the
Belfry in Stratford and the Grand
Bend Playhouse and is now coming to
St. Marys on October 3, 1986. Prior to
this, the play will have been staged
over the summer at Expo '86.
Citizen Advocacy of St. Marys and
District has been fortunate in booking
this play for a fund raising project.
Many people around St. Marys have
already begun working on the dinner
arrangements. They are preparing to
serve a full course hot roast beef din-
ner to theatre goers at 7 p.m. with the
theatre beginning at 8 p.m.
Tickets have already gone on sale
at $20. each and are available through
members of Citizen Advocacy and at
Crosthwaites Store, 132 Queen Street
East, St. Marys. An interesting even-
ing is in store for St. Marys and all at-
tending the Dinner Theatre.

Before you trade your RRSP
for an annuity, we have
just two words to say.
Control.And flexibility.
Because if you roll over your RRSP into an annuity, that's what
youll be losing.
On the other hand, with an Industrial Croup of Funds RRIF,
youll set the pay -out rate (with no waiting, and no annual
maximum, from as many plans as you care to set up) ... youl(
choose the investments ... mull direct any estate planning —
and you'll have the right to transfer at any time.
But beyond control and flexibility, there's one other thing you
won't get with an annuity: the potential for growth.
So the choice is simple: what would you rather have...
control, flexibility and potential growth, or an annuity?
