Ingers up season Heard
The Huron Park Stingers upped
their record in the Tri -County ladies
fastball league to nine wiw and a
single loss this week as they chalked
up two more victories.
Thursday in Dorchester, the
Stingers edged the home team by a 4-2
score and Sunday on their home field
defeated Mount Brydges 4-3.
The next outing for the Stingers will
be Sunday, July 13 when they take on
Belmont at the Huron Park field at 4
p.m.
In Dorchester, Carol Windsor
doubled in the first inning to send
Janice Capitano and Lina McConnell
across the plate. In the fourth
Capitano'singled and came around to
score on a similar hit from the bat of
Nancy Ogg.
The final Huron Park run came in
the seventh as Nancy Ogg walked and
came around to score.
Carol Windsor was the winning pit-
cher holding the opposition to four hits
while recording six strikeouts.
In Sunday's win over Mount
Brydges, the Stingers again scored a
pair of runs in the first inning. Cross-
ing the plate were Lina McConnell
and Nancy Ogg on a sacrifice fly by
Janice Capitano and a Carol Windsor
ground -out.
In the Stingers third, Capitano was
safe on an error and came home as
Willie Dimmers grounded out.
,The final run for the local club
came in the sixth frame as Chris
Beach walked and was cashed on a
Busy month
at Kirkton pool
June was a busy month at Kirkton-
Woodham swimming pool. A suc-
cessful National Lifeguard Service
course was held the week of June 16
to 20. The following week was staff
training week, during which the staff
became oriented with the facility,
learned about the programs offered,
met the other staff members, and
prepared the pool for opening.
K -W pool opened for recreational
swim on Thursday, June 26, and the
regular hours are: Monday to Thurs-
day 2 to 4 and 7 to 8; Friday 2 to 4 and
6:30 to 8 and Saturday and Sunday 2
to 4:30 and 6:30 to 8.
The first session of swimming
lessons are also underway at the pool,
and the swim team_has begun prac-
tising m anticipation of the swim meet
in Goderich on Saturday. Anyone in-
terested in swimming competitively
against other local pools is still
welcome to join our swim team.
The staff for the summer of '86 is
as follows: Debbie Josephson- super-
visor; Julie Lamport - assistant
supervisor; Sonya Fletcher- head
guard; Maureen Blackler - Instruc-
tor/guard, Beth Williams - Instruc-

Special events coming up at the
pool include a Moonlight Swim on Ju-
ly 15 from 9 to 11 p.m., a swim meet
on July 19, and a small craft safety
demonstration on July 29.

Motocross bask
Motocross racing returned to Hul-
ly Gully on Sunday, July 6, with ex-
cellent track conditions. Riders from
all over Ontario competed for
trophies and cash prizes. Top rider of
the day was Kevin Moore of Sarnia,
taking first overall in the 2N Expert
and 125 class.
Local rider Jim Dickins of Hensall
finished second overall in the 80A
class. Lorne Brewer of Ailsa Craig
finished seventh overall in the Jr.
125B while Dave Andrews of Clinton
finished 10th in this clasp.
Piet Blaauboeer III finished seconu
in the 808 class. Rob McIntosh of
Brussels finished third in the 250 Jr.
Class. Randy Marriage finished sixth
in the Open Senior Class and
Blackburn of Exeter finished fifth in
the 250 Sr. Brian Keyes from Seaforth
finished seventh in the 250 Sr.
Motocross action returns to Hully
Gully this Saturday, with the House
League Motocross. Sign in time is 11
a.m. and racing at 1 p.m. Everyone
is welcome.

Courtland, this past Sunday. Hully

Express record
pair of victories
The Exeter Express ran their Great
Lakes -Western Ontario senior
baseball league record to 10 victories
and three losses on the weekend with
a 22-4 victory over Thorndale.
The Express were in Thorndale for
a return game last night, Tuesday
and Sunday afternoon travel to
Ingersoll.
Brian Horner and Steve Pearce
shared the Express pitching duties
holding the Thorndale batters to a
half dozen hits while their mates
touched opposing pitchers for a total
of 19 hits.
Dave Hayter topped the Express
batting splurge with three hits. Chip-
ping in with a pair of safeties apiece
were Don MacDonald, Paul Gilmour,
Walt Parkinson, Brian Horner, Mike
Neil and Dave Atthill. Wil Sentjens,
Kevin Hern and Steve Pearce each
slapped out one hit.

Slopitch scores
Exeter ladies slo-pitch continues its
schedule with results causing league
standings to be juggled regularly.
Downtown Dollies are making a
strong comeback taking Big 0 Socket-
tes 13-2 in their June 26 match. Cana-
dian Tire played two strong games in
the past couple of weeks downing the
Huron Park Devils 5-3 and gaining a
7-7 tie with South Huron Hospital.
Albatross Angels split their games
evenly with a 10-9 win over the Sun -
downers and suffering a 11-4 defeat
off the bats of the Big 0 Sockettes.
Good Times and Exeter Indianettes
gained one win each in the last two
weeks with Good Times squeaking out
a late 10-5 victory over South Huron
Hospital and the Indianettes rallying
late in the seventh inning to post a 10-8
win over the Sundowners.

at Hensall
Good weather drew a Targe crowd
to the very successful second annual
Hensall Kinettes Co-ed Slo-Pitch
Tournament on the weekend.•
Organizer Linda Ferguson said 16
teams filled the available slots as
soon as registration opened four
months ago, and another seven had to
be turned away. She foresees possi-
ble expansion to accommodate more
teams next year.
Glavin Lads and Lassies defeated
the Exeter Firemen by a score of 17
to 7 to win the B championship.
The Lucan agri-crew won the A
championship after out -scoring the
Big 0 Sockettes 9-5. The members of
the winning team were Gayle and
Ken Ready, Judy and Don Squires,
.loan and Larry Greenlee, Helen and
.him [learn, Joanne and Gord Hardy
and Wendy and Tom Hardy.
The recreational weekend also in-
cluded a dance on Saturday night.
Shuffleboard
A good time was spent snuffling on
Wednesdayladies high score: Jean
Bern 288 and Mabel McKnight 244.
Men's high score was Harold Davis
444 and John Pepper, 265.
