The three boys who love to sing and also like to get off school these days because of rehearsals, are oil students at Gond Bend Public School. Mark Mallard (centre) and Keith Crawford are both ten while Mork's older. brother Bobby Mallard is twelve. With one more young actress from Forest, Leslie Weaver, these same seven young singers are also known in the play as the "Snow 'Children" Rehearsals can be confusing! Crediton UCW host Explorers .By MRS. STAN PRESZCATOR The, U.C.W. meeting was held on Thursday June 12 when members entertained the Explorers and their mothers. The Explorers' had charge ofthe program. The meeting opened with their mot- to and purposes. Scripture was read and a reading given, telling of their years work. A film "Know your Neighbors" was shown. The leader Irene Haugh and Nancy Brand presented the girls with their stars and awards. Lunch was served by the hostesses. Leila Finkbeiner con- ducted a short business period. It was decided to supply cookies and freshie for Vacation Bible School. Children's day The sermon topic at Zion United Church was taken from Deuteronomy 6:1-17 tilted "Faith and Family". It was children's day at the church and the children led in songs. Harry Schroeder was the Sunday School Superintendent. Denise Hendrick had a piano solo and Kathy Hendrick played for the children. Charles Ziegler from Centralia Lucan .WI enjoy picnic Lucan Women's insitute enjoyed a picnic lunch in Lucan Market St. Park. Reports of district annual were given by president Bernico-Lockyer. A quilt block of any pattern is to be appliqued and sent to Erland Lee Museum. The children's hospital bazaar will be held October 24, at Eatons Mall London. Children's quilts and crafts may be donated for this. The 31st rally will be held at Ailsa Carig Park 10 a.m. with the theme "The Family". Donations were made to the Scout Hall and the new Lucan Horticulture Society formed to beautify areas within the village. A meeting to plan the fall program by conveners is call- ed for Monday 2 p.m. at secretary's home. Members answered roll call with a program of poems, readings and games. gave a message "Faith and Family". Mrs. Leila Finkbeiner was organist. Awards were given out to the children for perfect attendance. Choir practice is Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Next Sunday is Decoration Sunday June 22 services at 10 a.m. Rev. Elder will be speaking. Flowers in the church were from the funeral of the late Edward Allen Schenk of Toronto, who passed away June 12 and was buried in Crediton Cemetery June 14. Edward is the son of Mrs. Marion Schenk and sister of Mrs. Jannette Lippert. Love and sym- pathy goes out to the family. Also a potted mum was in memory of the late Armin Schenkler Personals In hospital are: at University Lon- don, Fred Bowers; at South Huron Exeter, Mrs. Ada Mae Pinner, Mr. John Jesney, Mrs. Ruby Masnica, Mrs. Roxie Weber, and Mrs. Clarence Schade (of Zurich). Camp site Experience will be held at Camp Bimini on June 17. Zurich Women Aglow fellowship on Monday, June 23. Speaker will be Mrs. Doug Warren. E. SWAMIS At the Granton United Church the Rev. Bruce Pierce was in charge of the worship and officiated with the sacrament of adult and infant bap- tism, when Mrs. Harry Foster receiv- ed the sacrament of adult baptism. Receiving infant baptism were Brittney Irene Foster of Granton and Katherine Elizabeth Riddell, daugj►ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Rid- dell also of Granton. In the children's story the Rev. Pierce told them about the oldest father in the world, who was Methuselah, who lived to be 969 years old, also that they had a Heavenly Father that loved them very much. The Minister entitled his message "A Father's Faith". United Church Women Meet Unit III met in the Lions Park on June 5. The meeting was to have been a picnic in the park, but owing to the weather which was Less than kind, .it was held in the Lions Hall. Mrs. Doreen McRobert presided and opened the meeting with scrip- ture and prayer, followed by the roll call, which was an inspirational reading or something humorous. Following a short business session, in place of a program, fun, games and contests were enjoyed. The meeting wound up with a delicious pot luck supper. Unit 5 was in charge of the general meeting held in the United Church basement on June 10. Preceeding the meeting a dessert lunch was served by the members of Unit 5. This was followed by a guest, Mur - •ay Mitchell, of St. Marys who had •ecently returned from a visit to Cenya, South Africa with his son Kevon, showing his films of a safari they had taken, this was most in- teresting to watch and to hear Mr. Mitchell's narration which was ex- cellent. He also had some native car- vings and artifacts on display. Unit 3 of the Granton UCW held their June meeting in the home of Mrs. Cliff Cook. Mrs. Charles Hayden opened the meeting with a worship along the Father's Day theme entitl- ed "God Made Man". The program was presented by Mrs. Leroy Bryan and outlined the life of Bob McClure. Discussion ques- tions followed. Mrs. Cliff Cook led the business part of the meeting with pork supper plans and birthday calendar decisions being di ;cussed.
