Couples renew marriage vows.
Approximately one hundred people
joined together in reaffirming their
marriage covenant at Hensall United
Church on Sunday morning before a
capacity congregation. Carl and
Hilda Payne welcomed the congrega-
tion and Mr. McDonald conducted the
Service of Renewal.
The church was beautifully
decorated in pink and white peonies,
orange blossoms and candelabra. The
senior choir sang "The Lord's
Prayer" with arrangements by Ruth
Keys Kennerty, and Belva Fuss sang
as a solo the old favourite at so many
weddings in the past "O Perfect
Love". During the reaffirmation of
vows Betty Jinks sang the very ap-
propriate The Wedding Song and The
Wedding Prayer. Following the reaf-
firmation she sang Through The Eyes
of Love.
Ron and Kay Mock, representing
the couples reaffirming their love,
read the scriptures from 1 Corinthians
13 and 1 John chapter 15. Mr.
McDonald read the poem "Loving
Deeply" by Leland Foster Wood.
For the children's time Mr.
McDonald told the story of Roger
Rope and Rita Rope and how God had
joined them together in marriage
called "A knotty marriage."
• For the message he spoke on the
subject of "Love and Marriage Goes
Together like a Horse and Carriage."
He stressed that Christian love stems
from the fact that we believe that God
is love. When speaking about love in
marriage he said "in the Christian
context the covenant is made not bet-
ween man and woman who join hands
and speak. It is always made in the
awareness that God surrounds the
covenant and makes it binding."
Ushers for the day were Lloyd
Ferguson, Donald Stebbins and Jim
Parsons.
The congregation were reminded
that the Bridal Fashion Show of wed-
ding clothes over the century would
be held in the Hensall Public School
auditorium, and that next Sunday our
Service would be At 10:30 a.m. in the
Hensall Arena as we worship with
those attending the Fiddlers contest.
Following the service a reception
was held in the Fellowship Hall
catered b the UCW. The hall was
also decorated inpink and white. The
long luncheon table was covered in
pink and white cloths, centered with
a wedding cake and pink tapers.
Much appreciation goes to Mary
Lou Hyde and her committee for
making the arrangements for this
very meaningful day.
Plan for DVBS
The Vacation Church School staff
met on Tuesday evening to make final
plans for the vacation church school
to be held in Hensall United Church
from June 30 to July 4. Co-ordinator
and chairperson of Christian Develop-
ment Evelyn Elder led the meeting.
The vacation school will be held from
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. each morning
and children are asked to pre -register
in order that materials may be
ordered. Registrations can be made
through the United Church office or
Box 114 Hensall.
Scout badge
Bill Stebbins of the Hensall Scout
Troop received his 4th level of the
Religion and Life Badge at the Camp -
out weekend for the Hensall Cubs,
Scouts and Venturers held in the
Parkhill Conservation Area this past
weekend. This is the highest award
one can receive in Religion and Life
and one of the only persons receiving
it in the Huron District.
The award was presented by Rev.
McDonald assisted by Scout Master
Tom Bailey. A large number of Hen-
sall parents and families attended the
Camp -out on Sunday afternoon and
witnessed the award presentation, in-
cluding Bill's parents and sister Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Stebbins and
Dianne.
Rev. and Mrs. Wilbur Rogers of
Elora spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Edison Forrest and attended the
reaffirmation of marriage vows ser-
vice at Hensall United Church on Sun-
day. Mr. Rogers was minister of the
church during the 50s and was able to
visit with many of the couples he had
married during his ministry here.
Motocross
Jim Dickins of Hensall travelled to
MotoPark near Durham on Saturday
to race his Hully Gully Honda in the
80A class race. The track was in near
perfect condition as 21 young riders,
-at
many still eager from the recent
Supercross,
lined up to take\the green
flag.
Jim was 2nd into the 1st turn in the
1st Moto and never looked back as he
fought off the 3rd place rider during
the whole race. In the 2nd Moto, posi-
tions were reversed with Jim
finishing only seconds behind the top
two riders. Jim had enough points
overall to bring home the 3rd place
trophy.
Jim returns to Durham on Satur-
day, June 21 as he continues training
for the Canadian National
Championship.
Horticultural Society
The Hensall and District Hor-
ticultural Society held an executive
meeting on June 11 to finalize plans
for a fall flower show. The show will
be on September 5 in the afternoon
and evening. There will also be a tea
room. The schedule is in the planning
stage and will be published shortly.
Plant lots of flowers so you will have
plenty of blooms to show.

was very pleased with the total Hen-

This year's Hensall Spring Fair was
an overshelming success. The two-
day event was well attended by young
and old and everyone appeared to be
having a great time.
The ladies' section and the junior
craft division were very well done and
the school division was flooded with
entries. I watched some of the judg-
ing and can assure you the decisions
were very difficult.
Congratulations to all of the
children who had their work
displayed.
The committee would like to thank
Hensall Public school, St. Boniface
Separate School and Huron Centen-
nial for taking part and especially
Hensall principal Dave Kemp wlipai

venture.

7986 HENSALL CALF CLUB BUYERS
The Hensall Calf Club wish to express their appreciation to all the
buyers who attended the Hensall South Huron Calf Club sale Saturday
afternoon and who, by their brisk bidding, made the show a success.
It is support such as this which enables the committee to carry an with
the program among the young people in our community and we know
everyone shares a pride in their accomplishments.

On Saturday morning, the day of
the fair the Queensway float commit-
tee was doing their share. With
posters, streamers, balloons, and
flowers, The busy crew worked hard
for hours. The final result was a
beautiful sight, Our residents on
board made it seem just right. We had
a wonderful time as we road through
the streets, Waving, and smiling and
throwing out treats. Once at the fair
grounds we got a surprise. Our
Queensway float had won second
prize! So, thanks everybody for doing
your part, To get the summer of '86
off to a great start!
The lovely weather on Monday
June 9, took us out to the front lawn
for a game of croquet. Lorne Johnston
was our winner with the least hits!
Rev. Stan McDonald performed
this week's church service. Joyce
Pepper was our pianist.
The Exeter Christian Reformed
Church ladies took several of our
residents out for car rides on Wednes-
day afternoon. This is a very en-
joyable and popular activity here at
Queensway.
On Wednesday evening we were
entertained with videos of our trip to
Bill Gibson's cottage last summer and
of the United Church 100th anniver-
sary celebration. It was really fun to
see ourselves on television.
Thursday afternoon was spent
preparing decorations for our fair
float. We made signs and loads of
Kleenex Bowers. On Friday the Nurs-
ing }tome Baking Club met. They
made lots of delicious squares. They
were safe for diabetics so everyone
got the opportunity to taste them.
Quote for the week: "The only way
to have a friend is to he one."
