The South Huron Rec Centre will be the scene of two upcom-
ing sport attractions.
This Friday night professional wrestlers will invade the arena
and Sunday, June 29 a karate seminar will be held. •
Thesession on karate which begins at 2 p.m. features world
lightweight kick boxing champion Leo Loucks.
Kick boxing Is officially known as professional karate. The
sport of karate is creating a lot of interest in this area.
' This is due mainly to the twice weekly karate sessions being
conducted at the Rec Centre by Ron Tyndall.
The June 29 seminar with Loucks in attendance will include
training methods, fighting techniques, 'stretching exercises and
demonstrations of kick pad and point demo.
The recent championship win by Loucks in Toronto was the
first bout of this kind in the province in some time.
Kick boxing and other forms of martial arts combat had been
declared illegal and put on hold until the provincial government
decided how it was to be regulated and by whom.
Following. the last Loucks fight, officials of the new Ontario
Athletic Council were high in their praise of the bouts and the
promotion.
Of local interest, the manager of Leo Loucks is .Ron Day of
Kitchener. Ron is the sore of former police chief Ted Day and
operates a fitness club. near the popular Farmers Market in
downtown Kitchener.
Getting back to the wrestling show, Friday'sprograrn includes
a variety of grapplers.

Weekly trivia
Here are the answers to last week's trivia:
In the 1954 all star game Dean Stone of the Senators caught
Red Schoendinst of the Cardinals off base.
The four current major league managers who were pitchers
during their active playing careers were Tom Lasorda, Roger
Craig, Ray Miller and George Bamberger.
The five ways for a batter to reach first base without hitting
the ball. A walk, hit by the pitch, catcher's interference, striking
out with the ball getting away from the catcher and on a similar
third strike and the ball lodging in the umpire's mask or other
equipment.
This week's questions are:
Who was the last Detroit Tiger to win an American League
batting championship? .
Who was the only player to hit for the cycle three times in one
season?
Name the oldest pitcher to steal a base in major league history.

-Sparkling scores
feature golf play
Tuesday, the Ironwood men's golf
club enjoyed the annual Jerry
MacLean and Son special occasion
night.
A surprising number of members
recorded sparkling performances,
with Dave Holtzman continuing his
winning streak and shot one under
par 34 to capture "A” flight low gross
honours.
This was the first Tuesday night
sub -par round this year. Randy
Evans was close at 36 just ahead of
Don Cowan, whose 37 yielded the vic-
torious "A" flight net of 31. John Van
Bakel was awarded runnerup ih this
net category on countback from Ken
Pinder, both scoring 33 net.
"B" flight was won by Mike
Cushman with a gross tally of 37 just
one stroke better than President Brad
Murray, and closely followed by Brad
Daters at 39. Daters however cap-
tured the division low net with a 30.
Larry Wein was runnerup carding
a 33, while Don Currell was awarded
third place on countback from Gab-
by Mol, Bill Farquhar, Dennis Rowe,
Randy Gilfillan and Bill Steele, all
with net 35.
In a repeat of the close race in last
year's "C" flight, sponsor Jerry
MacLean again scored by a mere one
stroke. Ironically, John Weurth's 41
was identical to last year's winning
score.
Mike Brintnell continued his
plunder of the prize table by finishing
third in 44. Net winner was Norm
Whiting with a fine 30 just beyond Jim
