These courses are to provide students with an oppor-
tunity to. improve their basic skills in selected areas
of the curriculum as outlined in the REFERRAL
REPORT by the Home School PRINCIPAL.
Parents intending to register their children for these
courses should contact the child's principal regarding
the report. This will ensure that the individual needs of
your child will be addressed during the course.
ENRICHM NT ACTIVITIES
This course is designed for students who have
demonstrated ability to select a theme based on the
current Lambton County Board of Education
curriculum guidelines in Art, Physical Education
and Science.

programs are to be beneficial to your child. If your

SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ADULT EDUCATION
The courses listed below run from Tuesday, July 2 to
Thursday, July 31, 1986.
There is no. fee charge for these special courses;
however; since these are special education courses
students are carefully selected and are usually admit-
ted by referral.
English As A Second Language - IES100
• This course is for elementary school children. 'The
course stresses the four skills: reading, writing,
speaking and listening. (4 weeks).

10:30-12:30 (if enrolment warrants)
Trainable Retarded (T.R.) - TMR100
This course will provide continuity in programming for
pupils at Hanna, St. Clair, Wyoming and New Hope. It
will emphasize life skills, crafts and physical develop-
ment. Arty student who presently attends the Trainable
Retarded program is eligible. (4 weeks).

Remedial French - XRF 100
Remedial French is a special remedial course
designed for students who are new to Lambton County
and who may not have had French as a Second
Language. Its purpose is to help pupils to "catch up"
to their classmates. (4 weeks).

Time: 9:00.11:30 daily
Adult Education - XAD100
Improve in your Mathematics and/or English skills up
to and including high school entrance. An individual
program is provided by a qualified teacher. (4 weeks).
This course offered if there is a minimum enrolment
of 15 people.

FEES
The cost is based upon 11.25 per student per hour of in-
struction. These courses must operate at NO cost to
The Lambton County Board of Education. Fees are to
be paid at the first class or with registration. Make
cheques payable to the Lambton County Board of
Education.

Driver Education - IDR100
This will be the same popular course as offered
through the year. Students will get 6 hours in the car
and 25 hours classroom Instruction (as per Department
of Transportation Regulations). The cost of the course
will be 1120 per student. Classes will run Mondays and
Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. In -car in-
structional hours will be arranged with the instructor.
Driving students require a temporary driving permit
prior to the start of classes. (6 weeks).

INTEREST
Track and Field - ITF100
Learn more about Track and Field. (Get the "Racer's -
Edge). This course is designed for students of ages 9-14
years. Students will learn and practise track and field
events such as sprints, middle distance, high jump,
hurdle, discus, javelin, etc. The drills are intended to
develop skills, strength, endurance, and co-ordination
for this age level. Students may earn the right to com-
pete in a track and field event in July, as well as other
competitions with the Sarnia Track and Field Club.
(2 hours daily for 3 weeks).

Computer Programming Course LCP100
(NEW)
This course is designed for students interested in lear•
ning to use Microcomputers and Basic Language, in-
put, output looping and testing. Extensive use of TRU()
and Icon units. This course will be most suited for
Students 11-18 years of age. (2 hours daily for four
weeks).

Weight Training & Running - WTR100
This activity course is designed to increase muscular
and cardial endurance for boys and girls ages 8-16. The
programme involves lilting weights correctly and how
to weight train properly. A universal machine and free
weights are used. A jogging and running program will
be provided as well as aerobic games such as basket-
ball, indoor soccer and European handball. A pre-test
mid -test, and post-test are used to determine the
physical progress made. (2 hrs. daily for 4 weeks).

Auditory Summer Program for Hearing -
Impaired Children
A UD 100
The purpose of this program is to provide hearing-
impaired children daily intervention in the form of
auditory training, speech and language teaching.
The children will receive individualized instruction
and will otherwise be actively involved with hearing
peers in a group setting.

To introduce the beginner the most suitable instrument
and provide the foundation that is necessary to play the
instrument. Subject areas are: Note Reading, Perfor-
ming, Composition and Listening. Course content in-
cludes: Assembly, Care and Holding, Treble and Bass
Clefs, Rhythms, Key Signatures, Scales, Breathing,
Tone Production, Articulations, Writing and Conduc-
ting. (2 hours daily for four weeks).

The euchre in the community cen-
tre June 2 had 12 tables playing. Prize

ly Swartz, Frank Hicks.
The next party on June 16 will be
convened by Bob and Iva Blair and
Viola Atkinson. Lily Swartz was wish-
ed a happy birthday.
Tom and Mary Kooy were guests of
the family of Peter and Joyce
Sovereign, Lucan at Hook's
Restaurant, London on Sunday when
they celebrated the 25th -wedding an-
niversary of their parents. All return-
ed to the home of Joyce's brother
Howard and Sandra MacDonald for
the evening.

To understand creative improvisation through prac-
tical and theoretical applications. Designed to free the
student from the restrictions of the instrument
resulting in a more mature and confident player. Sub-
ject areas are: Theory, Analysis, Listening and Per-
formance. Course content includes: Chord Scales,
Modi3s, Chord Substitutes, Melody Design, Tension and
Resolution, Styles, Technique and Tricks. (2 hours
daily for four weeks).

Wrestling • WRE100 (Introductory)
For the aspiring Hulk Hogans of the World! This is
an introductory course In Free Style or Olympic
Wrestling. The purpose of this course is .to provide
basic moves consisting of throws, tilts and pinning
combinations which will prepare the student for 'high
school wrestling in the future. A moderate weight -
training program with cardio -vascular conditioning
will be provided as well. Sportsmanship and safety
.01 others is a high priority for this program. Studen-
ts wrestle only against others in their own weight
division.

Typing - Beginners - ITV 100
Tired of writing out those term papers and assignmen-
ts by hand? Do people have a hard time reading your
handwriting? Do you want to acquire a skill that will
help you through high school and university? If you
have answered "yes" to any of these questions, then
Beginner's Typing is for you. (2 hours daily for 4
weeks).

Parc dote en francals - FRS 100
A summer program for current kindergarten and
grade one French Immersion students is offered. It
consists of crafts, games, group outings, etc. and
will be conducted totally in the French language.
The program will run from July 7 to August 15. This
program provides an opportunity for immersion
students to utilize and develop their French
language skills over the summer holiday. A 115.00
fee will be Collected from parents to offset the costs
of supplies provided for the children. Transportation
is to be the responsibility of the parents. Students
enrolling must have been in the French Immersion
Program. Details regarding days and times will be
distributed to each French Immersion child. For ad-

Tragedy struck our village on the
weekend with the death of two young
men, killed in a car accident, early
Sunday morning, in Crediton.
Art Morgan, 19 years old son of
Earl and Marylou Morgan and 18
year old Percy Earhart, son of Peter
Scanlon. Love and sympathy is ex-
tended to the parents and families in
the loss of theirtloved ones.
Marilyn Lee and Hazel Willi?ms
travblled to Windsor Saturday to 'visit
their sister Dorothy Joyce, who is
very il1 in hospital. Hazel remained
for a few days to be near her sister.
Traffic was rather congested
around the Clandeboye curves on
Saturday with yard sales Popular.
Congratulations to Dean Scott who
graduated Friday from the Universi-
ty of Guelph with an Honors B.Sc. of
Agriculture Degree. Proud parents

fer congratulations.
Carter's General Store at
Clandeboye has been sold. The store
has been in the Simpsons family for
many,mgny years, the last owner be-
ing Barbara (Simpson) Carter and
her husband, Clarence Carter. The
new owner is M..rnie Mackidd and
she will take possession, August 15.
