The weather was great and the competitors had a super day shooting rifle, shotgun and handgun for turkeys and chickens. Winners of turkeys were: John Van Loo, Bill Adelman, Brian Pilgrim, Glen Vickery, Henry Wilds, Raymond Playfoot, Dwight Monck, Jay Swart- zentruber, Russ Beaver, Terry Romphf, Doris Moore, Paul Madill and Greg Ramsey. Chicken winners were: Russ Gib- son, Bob Caldwell, Grant McGregor, Brad Mann, Jody Mosurinjohn and David Van Allen. Ironwood ladies Forty-two ladies teed off Wednes- day night andenjoyed the second pot luck supper of the Season at the Iron- wood ladies golf club. The evening was sponsored bye Canadian Tire and,RSD Sports•Den: Helen Burton won closest to the pin and Number four and Lynne Far- quhar had the least putts. Pin winnings were shared by Jean Shipway, Susan Czypha, Pat Fletcher and Lynne Farquhar. Prizes were also given away for hidden scores. Closest to the pin awards went to Andy'DeBoer and Bill Fraser, while Dave Holtzman capped the field in the long drive competition. Texans Scramble In Ironwood play The first Texas Scramble eightsome event was enjoyed Tues- day by members of the Ironwood men's golf club. Sponsored by ?Olson Breweries, the scramble produced close competi- tion. A countback was necessary to Separate two teams tied for first place with a four under par Score of 31. The team of Andy DeBoer (cap- tain), Stu Homuth, Greg Lingeman and Brian Taylor was awarded first place honours while Randy Evans (captain), Will Chisholm, Gabby Mol and Al Taylor were relegated to se- cond place. More countbacks were necessary to separate five teams tied with 32. Third place honours went to the team of Don Cowan (captain), Wayne Pearce, Mike Cushman and Bob For- rest who squeaked by Bill Farquhar's team of Don Gifford, Dave Frayne and Ken Bergman. The quartette of Brad Murray (cap- tain), Jack Fuller, Brad Daters and Paul Charrette were fifth narrowly ahead of Dave Holtzman's team of Bob Fletcher, Dan and Mike Brint- nell, while Mark Cronyn's team of Bill Hodge, Blair Hearn and Perry Knee rounded out the prize winners. They defeated Denfield 15-12 and romped Poplar Hill 30-9. Their next games are Monday night at 9:00 in Crediton against London and then they travel to Ailsa Craig Wednesday, June 18. In their game against Denfield, the Cowgirls jumped to a 9-3 lead in three innings after pounding in six runs in the third Denfield came back to tie the game in the fifth and they remained tied, each getting one run apiece in the sixth and eighth inning. In the ninth inning, the ladies rallied in four runs and held their op- position back to one run to take the win. - Leading Crediton at the plate was Tammy Regier with a grand slam home run and two singles. Teresa VanRaay also pounded in a home run and added two singles. Brenda Iredale recorded a double and two singles while Kelly Philips recorded a triple and a single. Single hits came from the bats of Deb Lord, Lori Devlaeminck, Kathy Gielen, Linda Nedza, Heather Marcy, Karen Williams, Kate Steeper and Pauline Brannon. Brenda Iredale was the winning pit- cher for Crediton. In their very decisive win Monday night in Crediton against Poplar hill, the Cowgirls started their game shaky but settled down by the third in- ning to add nine runs and 14 runs in the fourth. Parents are recommended to at- tend a short maintenance clinic designed especially to show them how to direct and help their child in maintenance and protection. Participants will be given on -track 1 instructions, starting with walking the track, picking out the best line, and discussing alternate lines for chang- ing conditions, starts and braking drills and jumping techniques the safe way, will all be covered. Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Clinic participants who are under the age of 18 must have one of their parents present at registration. The clinic will get under- way at 9 a.m. sharp and will end at approximately noon. The opening house league race will follow the clinic, at 2 p.m. rounding a complete day of training, activity and fun at Canada's friendliest, inpsy complete motorcycle and ATV Mi- tre. Total cost including one year membership in the Hully Gully Com- petition Club is only 125. Double header weekend Clinton Fairgrounds and Bully Gul- ly hosted some of the best racing seen yet this year. Riders from all over CC- tario and Michigan battled it out for a 12,000 purse at the first Double Header of the season. John Munn of Hensall was a winner in the beginners class and Chuck Col- lins, Varna was home first in open modified and second in 250 modified. The next A.T.V. event is scheduled on June 22 at Bully Gully in Varna. Slopitch results Exeter ladies' slowpitch league is well underway with five of the -scheduled 18 nights completed. Some rained out games are yet to be played for May 15 and will be reported as they are played.
