The sermon at Zion United Church,
Sunday was taken from Matthew
16:13-17 and Luke 22:31-34 and 5442.
Rev. Edler had the first part of the
service which was our 135th anniver-
sary Sunday.
Rev. Cuthbert B. Carr gave a very
touching sermon on "Remember
When?" Special music was by the
Dashwood Men's quartet and Mrs.
Mervin Tiemon on the piano. The
singers were Harry Hoffman, Jack
Gaiser, Stan Haist and Doug Marten.
Special music was also by our own
choir.
We want to thank Rev. Carr, the
nashwood people and all those who
tended to help make this a very
ecial day. Lunch was served by
me of the Ladies UCW. Thanks
_vain for everyone who took part in
any special way and for just being
there to hear Rev. Carr.
The UCW meeting for June has
been postponed one week. They will

Mrs. Roxle Webber is stills patient
' in South Huron Hospital, Itaeter.
Two pretty weddings took place et
Zion United Church on Saturday. One
was the Brand -Waldeck wedding at
3:00 p.m. and the Hockey -Glanville
wedding at 7:30 p.m. Congratulations
to both these young couples and hope
they enjoy many years of wedded
bliss.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preazcator were
Sunday supper guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Chalmers and Joshua,
Walton and evening guests with Mrs.
Ed Regele and Norman Hubley,
Seaforth.

World Affairs Are Our Affairs was
the them of the Hurondale Women's
Institute May meeting held at the
Usborne Public School. Mrs. Lloyd
Ballantyne and her group were in
charge.
Each member named a world
leader past or present and the coun-
try represented to answer the roll
call.
Ross and Irene Haugh of Crediton
showed their pictures and ex-
periences of a trip to Australia.
Helen Webber told about her trip to
Yukon by way of an Inside Passage
Cruise from Vancouver to Skagway.
The climate there was much dif-
ferent than that experienced by Ann
Bray on her trip to the Fiji Islands.
Both Helen and Ann had excellent
snapshots to show.
Mrs. R.E. Pooley shared her in-
terest in the tiny country of Monaco.
Anna Ballantyne gave updated in-
formation on the nuclear energy
situation in Russia and other places.
The motto, 'God's best gift to us is
not things, but opportunities,' was
taken by Marion Porter who read,
"The Precious Present", condensed
from the book by Spencer Johnston
M.D.
New president, Mrs. Milton Keller
conducted the business and remind-
ed us of the picnic to be held August
13 beginning at 12:30 p.m. in
McNaughton Park.
A report on the District Annual held
in Grand Bend was given by Fern
Dougall.
Lois McFalls outlined the bus trop
which leaves from the Exeter Town
Hall at 8:30 a.m. on June 12 to visit
Rosalee Gardens at Mount Brydges,
the Libby Glass Works near
Wallaceburg, dinner at a United
Church and then to Fairfield
Museum. 'There will be room for ex-
tras, so contact Lois.

The United Church held their Sun-
day School anniversary Sunday with
a good attendance. Several children
and young adults took part in the ser-
vice with a solo by Jennifer Hodgson
"How Great Thou Art" and a piano
solo by Craig Skinner.
Sunday School superintendent Nor-
man Wilson presented seals and
awards for attendance. Special music
was presented by the Smith family
quartet who sang a number of songs
which was much enjoyed.
There will be no church next Sun-
day owing to Sunday School anniver-
sary at Zion West.
The UCW will hold their annual pot
luck picnic at Pine Burst Park at Ver -
da Lightfoot's trailer, June 10.
Members are asked to be at the
church at 6 p.m. to arrange rides. All
ladies are welcome.
Elwood Tripp and his wife Helen, of
Belleville visited on the weekend with
his brother Harold Tripp and family.
Torn Kooy received word last week
that his sister Marguerite Meerkerk
of Alblasserdam, Holland had died.
She was 61 years of age.
Tom and Mary Kooy and Helen
MacDonald, Lucan were Thursday
evening guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Noels. 'hucan.
Mrs. Von Overholt spent the
weekend with her sister Mrs. Helen
Aubin, Seaforth.
