tyne welcomed everyone to the

by Mrs. Reg Hodgert on the piano.

Chureh service
The Sacrament of the Lord's Sup:
per and Service of Confirmation took
palce at the regular church service,
Sunday with Rev. Robert Matheson in
charge.
Rev. Matheson told the story entitl-
ed "Let's Stay Together".
The Scripture Lesson was read
from I Kings 8:22-23, 41:43, Ghlations
1:1-10, Luke 7:1-10. The choir sang
"Come and Dine" accompanied by
the organist Miss Agnes Bray. The
Meditation given by Rev. Robert
Matheson has entitled "True humili-
ty is true greatness".
Humility in I Kings 8:22-23, 41-43 is
found in the example of Solomon's
humility in that he sees all people as
God's children! Paul, on the other
hand (in Galations 1:1-10), has a dif-
ferent problem. He has been limited
by others regarding his authol.ity to
preach in the name of Christ.
Even though seeing himself as a
sinner he is able to demonstrate his
position of authority over the mis-
sionary churches. By far the greatest
example of humility comes from
Jairus in Luke 7:1-10.
Jairus' servant has taken ill and
despite all the favours he has done for.
the people of the region he still sees
himself as unworthy of Christ's
assistance since he is not a Jew by
birth.
We are told to brag does not make
us great. Our deeds are the criteria
on which we are judged by the world.
We cannot brag of faith but faith' is
how we are judged by God.
M.irray Dawson clerk of session
called Wendy Ballantyne and Michael
Jeffery to the front of the church
where Rev. Robert Matheson con-
firmed them and welcomed them in-
to the membership of the church.
The elders namely Lorne Ballan-
tyne, Murray Dawson, Mrs. Ken Dun-
can, Barry Jeffery, Mrs. Lorne
Passmore and Bill Rohde served
communion to the congregation.
