catered by Clubhouse Manager Vi-
viane Roache and Diana Caldwell
from Southcott.

Ellison Travel introduced a represen-
tative from Horizon Travel Agency.
They showed slides of various travel
tours their company offers.
The first half of the program was a
general travellogue from North
America, the United Kingdom,
Europe and a few more exotic ports
of call. The rest of the slides promoted
a real globe trotting visit to Australia
and New Zealand that really tempted
the wanderlust lurking within you.
There were several beautiful door
prizes and a lovely pink carnation for
each lady, all donated by the two
travel agencies.
During the short business meeting
that followed, further preparations
'were made for the fashion show to be
held September 10.

NEW PROMOTION — Seated at his office desk is Grand Bend
Postmaster Gar Johnston, who has been named the new Supervisory
Postmaster for the area. On the right is Herb Stan, manager of field
services, Kitchener area, reviewing the twelve post offices that
Johnston will be in charge of.
Local postmaster
mets a promotion
Grand Bend Postmaster Gar
Johnston has officially been named
the new supervisory postmaster for
the area.
Last week, Herb -Stan, manager of
fpld services, from the Kitchener
area, travelled to rid Bend to of-
ficially name John for the new
duties. Johnston wi now be in charge
of offices at Bayfield, Centralia,
Dashwood, Hensall, Huron Park,
Zurich, Brucefield, Crediton, Hay,
Kippen, Varna and Grand Bend.
Although 'the promotion offers
Johnston some new challenges, the
postal world is not new to the
postmaster. He has 27 years of ser-
vice with Canada Post; 11 years he
spent working at the Exeter office,
and 16 as Postmaster of the resort
village-- a grade 6 office. Manager
Stan wished Johnston all the best in
his future with Canada Post.
Give their support
It's not often during the week that
the Grand Bend Medical Centre park-
ing lot is empty! That's the way it
stood Thursday and Friday except for
the odd vehicle visiting the busy den-
tist occupying the same building.
Dr. Wm. O'Connor and Dr. P.
Englert supported the province -wide
strike by doctors to protest the
government's legislation to ban extra
billing. Office staff, Wendy Richard-
son said that Dr. O'Connor had visited
the South Huron Hospital in the mor-
ning and would be at the GB office on
Thursday afternoon. Although his
regular patients were rescheduled for
another time, he would not turn
anyone away.
Dr. M. Lam, Dashwood, also stands
behind the O.M.A. and was seeing
emergency patients only on those two
days last week.
Fourth generation at Airport
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love, of Sauble
Court. GB, were pleasantly surpris-
ed Sunday when they were called to
the Grand Bend airport. They arriv-
ed there to meet their son Don Love,
and his sons Dan and David.
Part of the GB aiport land was pur-
' chased by Don's great grandfather in
1849 from the Canada Company;
(Huron County Atlas 1879), and was
farmed by three generations of Love's
before being purchased by the
government in 1942.
So watching grandson, David Love,
the pilot, take off from that same land
was vey thrilling for the couple.

of all ages.
